This was one of the very first books I read this year. Although I read a lot of graphic novels, I read fewer non fiction graphic. However, this one has stuck with me all year. A shipwrecked vessel, containing treasure. is the center of this legal battle between an American company & a handful of underpaid & overworked Spanish officials. I really loved this story about bureaucracy & standing for your principles.

#BookReport
I finished 10 books this week. 6 graphic novels & 4 novellas. As I have mentioned in previous posts I have been in the mood for short form works lately. The 2 standouts were the tagged book & Batman Impostor. I also have T. Noah's “Born a Crime“ going as audio (the end of chap 3 had me dying in my car) & am in the middle of Jackson's We Have Always Lived etc & still randomly dipping into Penguin Book of Vampire Stories,

Pickpick

This was a find while browsing the library. In 07 Ithaca, an American treasure hunting ship, claims the treasure of a shipwreck in international waters. It soon becomes apparent that this shady company was searching in regions that they weren't permitted & Spain filed a lawsuit claiming the treasure as a national cultural heritage. This was a fascinating book about a case I knew nothing about, full of legal highs & lows with underdogs to root for.

vivastory Paco Roca's artwork is in service to the story, but there are nice flourishes as when he utilizes a different style to relay the story of the true identity & the sinking of the Black Swan. 1y
