Death in Door County | 
bailedThis isn‘t bad, but there‘s something about the detective character that makes me not want to continue. Also the main protagonist makes some questionable choices. Very cool premise but I bailed at 40%
so-soKind of fun, but the writing was overly descriptive. Lots of unnecessary detail, more telling than showing. And I could have done without the romantic subplot. If you‘re in the mood for something that feels a bit like a Hallmark movie with a dash of Scooby-Doo, might be worth a try.
Door County is 3.5 hours north of me, I live in Southern WI. Only been there once but I want to go again someday soon. Looking forward to a cozy, contemporary mystery! 🍂🍁
Book haul from a Grown-Up Book Fair in Burl. These caught my eye 📚
pickThis was a fun mystery about Morgan, a cryptozoologist, who is hired by a local police chief to help them investigate suspicious deaths in the Great Lakes. Loved the characters and the dog. It was fast paced and kept me hooked, wanting to know what would happen next. Looking forward to the next book out later this year.

pickI love a book set in Wisconsin and this one is definitely a winner! A fresh take on the cozy mystery with a cryptid twist! I look forward to reading more of this series!
pickYou‘ll enjoy this read even if you‘re not a midwesterner. If you are, particularly if you know the north, it will be pure pleasure. Our protagonist, Morgan Carter is a skeptical cryptozoologist (the best kind) She‘s been asked by the Police Chief of Washington Island to investigate two unexplained drowning deaths. The bodies show crushing injuries from what could be a large Nessie-like sea creature, but the truth is even weirder, and man made.

What I thought would be a creature feature turned out to be a cozy mystery. However, I still loved it, and I‘m happy it‘s going to be a series. I used it for the #ScarathalonPromptMaze for the 31 chapters or more prompt.

so-soSimply put it felt like a cozy mystery that softened the death and fearful moments with a dose of smart humor, or quick wit releasing the tension as it was still building. Not a bad read but I think I was looking to be a little more scared.
Starting a new read while watching Teen Wolf with my sister! It‘s a gorgeously crisp day here so decided some instant pot risotto was in order for dinner tonight.

pickA lovely cozy mystery with the fun twist that the main sleuth is a cryptozoologist. I found this book delightful and I loved the interwoven facts about different cryptids and the Great Lakes!
There were a few sections that could have benefited from a bit more editing but overall well written with a great cast of characters.
I can't wait to read more in this series, it looks like a Sasquatch book was alluded to next? Heck yeah #netgalley
