Misrule
Misrule: Book Two of the Malice Duology | Heather Walter
5 posts | 5 read | 3 to read
Does true love break curses or begin them? The dark sorceress of Sleeping Beauty reclaims her story in this sequel to Malice. The Dark Grace is dead. Feared and despised for the sinister power in her veins, Alyce wreaks her revenge on the kingdom that made her an outcast. Once a realm of decadence and beauty, Briar is now wholly Alyces wicked domain. And no one will escape the consequences of her wrath. Not even the one person who holds her heart. Princess Aurora saw through Alyces thorny facade, earning a love that promised the dawn of a new age. But it is a love that came with a heavy price: Aurora now sleeps under a curse that even Alyces vast power cannot seem to break. And the dream of the world they would have built together is nothing but ash. Alyce vows to do anything to wake the woman she loves, even if it means turning into the monster Briar believes her to be. But could Aurora love the villain Alyce has become? Or is true love only for fairy tales? Book Two of the Malice Duology

Ahhhh good ending. I admit to being tempted to not only chuck my book at a wall but also rip the pages and burn them. I was slightly upset. But I really appreciate how it ended. No misguided and unhealthy happily ever after for us. Growth potential. Yas queens.

Once again I was going to “savior” a book and yeah I blew through it. Because that‘s what you do when you‘ve got no “shelf control!” This is the continuation of the first book but from Alyce‘s POV. So good. So very good. #darkfairytale #sleepingbeauty #lgbtq #mayread #springread

Alyce is 100 years into her war to subjugate the courts of the Fae under the rule of her Dark Court & working to lift the curse keeping Aurora asleep.

I enjoyed how this story examined a centuries long cycle of hatred & it kept me guessing with betrayals, twists, & secrets.

It felt like the time skip was only to have the “100 year curse” & to skip over most of the war. There‘s all these side characters I wanted to know more about. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
