Very good. Broader in scope than Come Fly the World (which focused on just Pan Am). Worth reading!

A well researched book about the fight for flight attendants to be seen as professionals and not just a pretty face. With everything going on in the US right now it was a good reminder of how women used to be treated and how hard they had to fight.

If you‘re interested in history and labor movements, this is for you. In the 1960s, great numbers of women were becoming stewardesses. Training focused more on looks and less on safety. They had to quit when they married, became pregnant, or turned 32. Weight requirements were strict. The women became fed up, and this book highlights the pushback against these rules and the brave women who stood up against sexism and discrimination.

Aims42 Oh man, this sounds very interesting!! Definitely adding to my TBR 👍 2y
Megabooks @Aims42 awesome! Enjoy! 2y

This is an excellent work of non-fiction highlighting a little known, or at least rarely discussed, part of workplace and feminist history. The mix of historical events and the individuals profiled in this book were fascinating. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in workplace history, unions, airline history, feminism and unsung heroes of the past. Thank you to Doubleday for the ARC! 📚 Out 4/19/2022!

fredthemoose This sounds great. If you haven‘t already read it, it sounds like you might enjoy Come Fly the World! 2y
CaitlinByTheBook @fredthemoose ooh, that does sound like another one I‘d like! Added to my TBR. Thanks for the recommendation! 2y

Evening reading with decaf coffee tonight. About 15% in to The Great Stewardess Rebellion and enjoying the details about the start of the EEOC. Interested to see where this all goes. #NetGalley #TheGreatStewardessRebellion

Started this #NetGalley ARC last night. As an HR professional, woman, and avid traveler, I‘m highly interested in this book! I don‘t remember hearing anything about stewardess working conditions and how they changed them so I expect to learn a lot. Thank you to Doubleday for the ARC. Pub date is 4/19/2022 ✈️ #TheGreatStewardessRebellion
