Genesis
Genesis: A Robert Hunter Thriller | Chris Carter
16 posts | 6 read | 4 to read
A killing like no other. A killer more twisted than hes ever seen before. A case that will test him to the limit. Has Robert Hunter finally met his match? Do you believe the Devil exists, Detective? the officer at the end of the line asks. Because if you dont . . . Im sure you will once you get here. This is how Robert Hunter is called to one of the most vicious crime scenes he has ever attended. The disturbing nature of the murder is heightened when the autopsy reveals a poem, left by the killer, inside the body of their victim. When another murder occurs, the methods and signature of each death differ so greatly that forensics fail to link the two crimes. But then a second part of the killers poem is found, implying that the murders are only just beginning. Robert Hunter must now catch the most disciplined and systematic murderer that he has ever encountered. A killer who thrives on the victims' fear and to whom, death is a lesson that needs to be taught. From #1 Sunday Times and multi-million copy bestselling author, Chris Carter, comes the most compelling and ruthless Robert Hunter thriller yet. ***PRE-ORDER NOW*** PRAISE FOR CHRIS CARTER Wonderful storytelling, with a superbly drawn killer, it underlines exactly how good Carter has become Daily Mail Former criminal psychologist Carter knows what hes talking about when it comes to creating bone-chilling serial killers, so be prepared for a terror ride Heat 'Carter has a background in criminal psychology and the killers at the centre of his novels are all the more terrifying for it' Mail on Sunday 'Carter is one of those authors who makes writing look effortless ... It‘s too hot to do anything but sit at the fan and read today so I‘ll be finishing this dark thriller. What are you reading today?

AllDebooks I did the same yesterday, rinse and repeat today 🥵 8mo
Cazxxx @AllDebooks yep it‘s too warm to even move. I‘m Scottish, I‘m definitely not built for this weather 😂 8mo
Bookwomble The sun is shining hard on West Lancashire, but it's raining at the same time (wtf! 🤷🏻‍♂️) so the humidity is high, and it's so hard to get comfortable 🌦️ 🥵 Also, weather warning for thunderstorms later ⛈️. I'm reading the tagged, and it's as much as I want to do! 😌📖 8mo
Cazxxx @Bookwomble We‘ve not had any rain here in Edinburgh but the humidity is ridiculous! It was at 98% earlier 🥵. I have two fans blowing at me and I‘m still boiling lol. It‘s not a day for doing anything other than reading or watching something but yeah it‘s impossible to get comfortable! I love folk tales, I‘ll need to put this on my tbr 📚 8mo

I don‘t know how it‘s possible for each new book to get better than the last but Chris Carter does it. He is one of my favorite authors and I just can‘t get enough of Robert Hunter. This whole series is one I wish I could experience again for the first time. I just love all of his books so much and I‘m already waiting impatiently for the next one!

deeannloso I just finished that series for the second time. Love Chris Carter! 11mo
NikkiKey94 @deeannloso I could definitely read them all again! 11mo

Wow! Talk about gruesome murders! This serial killer truly fell over to the dark side. This was the last book in the series (for now?). I think Chris is working on another book that is coming out sometime next year. I really hope so. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

Andrew65 Well done on getting up to date on another series 👏👏👏 Any ideas what series you are tackling next? 11mo
deeannloso @Andrew65 I think I‘m going to reread Tania Carver‘s Brennan and Esposito series. I‘ll be a bit slower with that one because I have to read physical books, but that‘s okay. 😊📚 11mo
Andrew65 @deeannloso Hope you enjoy them. 11mo

paper.reveries Never heard of this series until seeing your posts! How many books are there in it? 11mo
deeannloso @paper.reveries There are 12 books in the series so far. I don‘t know when/if there will be another book coming, but I hope so. I love this series! 😊 11mo

Really enjoyed this - it‘s been a while since I read the series so I didn‘t get a couple of the references straight away but the main storyline was excellent if not incredibly dark. I think the mix of psychological and good old fashioned policing is my favourite thing about this series

I put off reading this book for way too long. I just don't want to face the fact that after this one I won't have another Robert Hunter book to read. Though I haven't had much reading time these past couple of days so at least I get him for longer than usual I guess 🤷‍♀️

This is one of my all time favorite series, so I knew this was going to be a great book. However, if I didn't already know that, this exchange would have cemented the idea in my mind.

Hanging out with an old friend tonight ... though that sticker on the front is driving me bonkers, regardless of how excited I was to get a signed copy. I live in a tiny town in the arse end of nowhere with a population of a few hundred so getting something that's signed isn't as exciting, since I don't get it done in person, but made me quite happy nonetheless

Back to Chris 🤣🤣👮‍♂️🕵️🤷🏼📚❣️ #12booksof2022, my pick for October

Andrew65 One of my favourite lead Detectives. Doesn‘t take a detective to spot a theme. 😂 1y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 what can I say? Some authors just know how to write books for me 🤷🏼🤣 1y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads 😂😂😂 All the books you love I seem to as well. If you haven‘t started them yet I‘d urge you to read the J D Kirk books. Loving those. 1y

Darker than dark. Grittier than the grittiest. Absolutely horrible. This says a lot, because I am talking about Chris Carter. Before the book starts there‘s even a warning about this. But the book is excellent, intriguing, impossible to put down, and five stars!

EadieB Where did you get a copy? 1y
Tove_Reads @EadieB My library 1y
Tove_Reads @EadieB @Andrew65 Did you also get a widget for In too deep by McCleave? 1y
See All 22 Comments
EadieB @Tove_Reads my library doesn‘t have a copy but I am reading hunting evil for November. I got turned down for Simon McCleave‘s in too deep 1y
Tove_Reads @eadieb I got turned down as well, but an hour ago they sent me it as a widget out of the blue 🤷🏼 1y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I don‘t know what a widget is 1y
Tove_Reads @eadieb Publisher contacts you directly by email and invites you to read the book on NG. 1y
EadieB @Tove_Reads No I didn‘t get an invite on my email but that‘s cool that you got one! 1y
Tove_Reads @EadieB Strange. Could be though that they want ppl who review on Amazon UK. 1y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Amazon does not let me do any reviews just recently happened. 1y
Tove_Reads @eadieb I heard about that happening. Did you go against their rules several times or did you review too many ARCs? Just guessing these could be some reasons. 1y
EadieB @Tove_Reads They said that you can‘t post reviews for free ARC‘s 1y
Tove_Reads @EadieB I thought they had a limit of 5 per week. Could of course have changed. Did you thank NG and/or the publisher for a free ARC? I‘ve heard they don‘t like it. 1y
EadieB @Tove_Reads yes and then I took out the word free and just used ‘thanks for a copy for an honest review ‘ and I guess they didn‘t like that either 1y
Tove_Reads @eadieb So sensitive. Do they think every reader will become and arc reader? Defeats the purpose for publishers as well then. Is the ban for eternity? 1y
EadieB I suppose because I can‘t post any reviews on Amazon 1y
Tove_Reads @eadieb Really annoying! Also wonder what kind of future Twitter has. Could be a dead end soon with people leaving left and right. 1y
EadieB @Tove_Reads That‘s true! I haven‘t posted much on Twitter but should probably put my reviews there. 1y
Andrew65 I got a copy of In Too Deep last week on Net Galley.

My reviews kept getting rejected by Amazon, then I started taking all the sentence out thanking publishers for a copy etc…. And now the reviews go through. Very strange. @EadieB @Tove_Reads

Not seen too much evidence of people leaving twitter as yet. My followers has stayed fairly constant at around 7000.
1y
Andrew65 I do regularly communicate with Michael Wood on Twitter, author of the Matilda Darke series. 1y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I did get a copy of In Too Deep to read. @Andrew65 1y

Another brilliant read from Chris Carter‘s phenomenal mind. I was on the edge of my seat for this one, the best in the series I believe.

I love this dedication. The last book was dedicated in a similar way due to the loss of him partner.
