For the Love of April French
For the Love of April French: An LGBTQ Romance | Penny Aimes
7 posts | 5 read | 6 to read
An Entertainment Weekly Best Romance of Summer 2021! This book gave me every last one of the Intense Romance Feelings I crave. New York Times bestselling author Talia Hibbert April French doesn't do relationships and she never asks for more. A long-standing regular at kink club Frankie's, she's kind of seen it all. As a trans woman, shes used to being the scenic rest stop for others on their way to a happily-ever-after. She knows how desire works, and she keeps hers carefully boxed up to take out on weekends only. After all, you can't be let down if you never ask. Then Dennis Martin walks into Frankie's, fresh from Seattle and looking a little lost. April just meant to be friendly, but one flirtatious drink turns into one hot night. When Dennis asks for her number, she gives it to him. When he asks for her trust, wellthat's a little harder. And when the desire she thought she had such a firm grip on comes alive with Dennis, April finds herself wanting passion, purpose and commitment. But when their relationship moves from complicated to impossible, April will have to decide how much she's willing to want. Carina Adores is home to highly romantic contemporary love stories where LGBTQ+ characters find their happily-ever-afters. Discover a new Carina Adores book every month!

It‘s a heartwarming story that‘s somewhat fairytailish but it also gives some insights about the difficult life of transgender people.

I really liked this. This is a romance between a Trans woman, April French, and new to town, Daniel Martin who meet at the local Bdsm/kink club. Which at first I had no idea all the terms being thrown around but found it all very interesting, educational, and emotional. At first there was a lot of check marking between the couple and it almost became tedious until you realize the world would be better off with such communication and consent. Pick!

Jas16 I have this languishing on my kindle. Must boast up my TBR. 13mo
CarolynM Interesting. I read a few “bdsm/kink club” #romantsy type books a while ago and thought I was over it, but you are tempting me with this one😆 13mo
Reggie @Jas16 @CarolynM I hope you both like it if ya‘ll get to it. She‘s trans and he a Black gentleman. They both bring things to the table that are worth discussing and are relative. Like how hard it is to be your authentic self when the world tries to keep telling you are less than. There‘s a part in here where she asks him if she‘s real and I kinda cried for a bit. And the kink bdsm thing didn‘t do much for me but the emotional resonance won it 4 me 13mo

sarahbarnes Wow. 13mo
Reggie @sarahbarnes there was another quote in this book between 2 doms-because this is a kink/bdsm romance- that masculinity is not rooted in about always being right. There was some profound stuff in this little romance. Little bells were ringing here and there in here. 13mo
Centique Beautiful and so true 💕 13mo

Stayed up too late finishing this one, and while I'm suffering a bit at work today it was worth it! Really interesting structure in this one - the two middle parts that cover the same time period from each protagonist worked really well! And the choice made in the last part... I always enjoy when a romance novel plays with structure.

Did you know Doms now come in Cinnamon flavored? Bc that's what I learned about from reading this book! Our bookstore romance club read picked this as January's read, and it was a great start to the year! I was a little worried bc I'm not huge into BDSM romances, but this one was more about the kink culture and not into beating your lover (I'm still not okay after reading The Siren). A super positive kink and Trans novel, and a great love story.

#20in4 #readathon 2nd book read

@Andrew65

I did it! This is my 150th book read this year! I met my Goodreads goal on the absolute last day. 🎉

This book is fortunately heavy on consent and better written than some of the more popular BDSM predecessors. It stars a transgender protagonist and is written by a transgender woman. I normally don't like sappy romances, but I feel like I learned a lot.
