A young woman agrees to star in a filmmaker's latest project, but soon realizes the movie is not what she expected in this chilling debut novel. In the wake of her father's death, Betty Roux doesn't allow herself to mourn. Instead, she pushes away her mother, breaks up with her boyfriend, and leaves everything behind to move to New York City. She doesn't know what she wants, except to run. When she's offered the chance to play the leading role in mysterious indie filmmaker Anthony Marino's new project, she jumps at the opportunity. For a month Betty will live in a cabin on a private island off the coast of Maine, with a five-person cast and crew. Her mother warns against it, but Betty is too drawn to the charismatic Anthony to say no. Anthony gives her a new identity--Lola--and Betty tells herself that this is exactly what she's been looking for. The chance to reinvent herself. That is, until they begin filming and she meets Sammy, the island's caretaker, and Betty realizes just how little she knows about the movie and its director.

Book 16📚 3⭐️

I didn‘t love it but I didn‘t hate it. Ok except for the very end…

I started and stopped this book so many times so I‘m glad I finally got through it.

Really just seemed like some childish revenge and I‘m necessary taunting and rage🫠

3/5 ⭐️
The story felt a little strange to me. I enjoyed it, but it was a little weird. I know they were adults, but I couldn‘t shake the feeling that Anthony was a groomer. He seemed creepy and I didn‘t trust him. Sammy had me on edge and those were the best parts for me.

This is like a dream, one where I have discovered how to fly. The secret is to stop caring. If you get scared, you‘ll fall from the sky. If you just let go of yourself, everything is possible.

I finished my first #scarathlon book! It's not awesome (sooo many similes, and I have a lot of Questions about these characters and their choices), but starting with a so-so means things are likely to get better from here, right? 6 hours (at 1.5x) + theme read + participation = 76 for #teamslaughter @Clwojick

Shows that everyone has a side to them just waiting to be free...not smart for some people to let that side free

Bk11 of August is done! This book was highly rated on bookstagram, especially on the crime & thriller pages, but I wasn‘t that impressed honestly. It started slow & kinda dragged for awhile before the action started 2/3 in, which would‘ve been ok in a better book but here it was just boring. The MCs were awful people IMO, who acted badly in a situation brought on by them. It‘s not often I dislike a book. Sorry🤷🏻‍♀️ #BookspinBingo #PennyPerPage

TheAromaofBooks Not every book is a match!! At least this one is off the list!! 3y

? Book Review ?⁣

??????? is an impressive debut by ??????? ??????. A grief-stricken woman who knows her big break is too good to be true. Shocking revelations keep the pace moving. One character ensnares the others in a diabolical plot & there's a jaw-dropping conclusion.

"You can just pick up you life and change it all, in a second." Atwhat cost? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⁣
