Lovesickness: Junji Ito Story Collection
Lovesickness: Junji Ito Story Collection | Junji Ito
10 posts | 7 read | 1 reading | 5 to read
An innocent love becomes a bloody hell in another superb collection by master of horror Junji Ito. Ryusuke returns to the town he once lived in because rumors are swirling about girls killing themselves after encountering a bewitchingly handsome young man. Harboring his own secret from time spent in this town, Ryusuke attempts to capture the beautiful boy and close the case, but... Starting with the strikingly bloody "Lovesickness," this volume collects ten stories showcasing horror master Junji Ito in peak form, including "The Strange Hikizuri Siblings" and "The Rib Woman."

Oh boy, ever since Uzumaki, each subsequent Ito has just been falling flat for me. The short stories are cut short; some are beyond ridiculous (which is sometimes my main problem with horror); and the main boy, although not the same character, was drawn the exact same in each story. It just didn‘t jive, and I skimmed the last few stories.

It‘s fitting that it ended with a story about poop because IMO it‘s only worth 💩.

Since Halloween is a few short days away, it‘s time to pull out my daytime Halloween read! Daytime is important because Ito is nightmare inducing. 💀

#BookBinge Day 19: Arguably, most of the characters in Junji Ito‘s graphic novels depict #AboutMentalHealth issues. Daughter is currently addicted to collecting all of his graphic novels. 💕

This is the first junji ito I‘ve ever read. Tomorrow I‘ll read another one. It‘s oddly compelling (and better than the Netflix show, tho I‘m enjoying that too).

I'm normally give or take when it comes to short stories...then there's Junji Ito.
Every story he puts out gets me hooked.
These are mangas I will reread forever.

📚 One of my favorite things to do after work is to browse my local B&N ... they are FINALLY open until 9PM .... I miss 10PM closing .... baby steps! A book for me & a book for my nephew. 🥲

LibrarianRyan Oh. 21. I have Dragon Slayer 2 in my bag right now. I can not wait to see how the story progresses. And I just saw the Anime was on Netflix.

I also have Lovesickness on my ipad to read this weekend. Great choices.

Twainy @LibrarianRyan I saw it was on Netflix. I haven‘t seen it yet, I hope it‘s good! My TBR is high but my TBW is unbelievable 😆 3y
Reggie Ughh I know, the nearest BN in Alb was closing at 6. Now they‘re up to 8pm. 3y
Twainy 😆 @Reggie uhhh I just got back from B&N. I kinda wish they‘d ban me. 😣 3y
