10 posts | 6 read | 1 to read
As a former field surgeon in Afghanistan, Heather Fontaine is used to life-or-death situations. She just didn't expect them to follow her home. When she returns from a party to find that someone has broken into her house--and threatened her friends--she assumes it is the stalker who has been following her and creeping her out. She hopes to find safety and peace of mind by leaving the city and hiding out in a small town. But trouble has followed her even there. Luckily, a stalker isn't the only one watching Heather. Travis Walker has been secretly watching out for her for weeks. As owner of his own security agency, it's what he does. Together, Travis and Heather must figure out who wants her dead--and why--before it's too late. Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason will have you looking over your shoulder as you dive into this fast-paced, suspense-filled story about losing control and finding something even better.

Active Defense by Lynette Eason is a highly-engaging, edge-of-your-seat kind or read that I highly recommend. Check out my thoughts. You won't want to miss this book! #MustRead #RomanticSuspense @revellbooks

@revellbooks sent me this book in exchange for a review. The third in a series, it would work on its own but is more enjoyable with some knowledge of the other characters. This is what I would call a "light" thriller - the pacing is good and the story was engaging, but it wasn't dark or violent. I really enjoyed this one - my favorite of the series so far.

Cinfhen Yay!! I like that term #litethriller 🙌🏻🎉😊 (edited) 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Cinfhen - Right?? It's definitely in the thriller genre, but it wasn't like I couldn't eat or sleep while I was reading it 😂 I'm always looking for more gradients haha 3y

Work really cut into my reading time yesterday (so annoying) so I'm behind on my month's page goal for #JumpStart2021. I love using a challenge to help me fulfill the goals for another challenge (no, I can't explain how my brain works 😂) so I want to be at 3000 pages for January by the end of Sunday - which means I need to read 1161 pages this weekend!! Don't worry, I've already marked some housekeeping chores as “postpone-able“ 😁

Eggbeater Chores are always postpone-able, I agree! Good luck! 3y
kimmypete1 Postponing chores is one of my favorite skills!😂 3y

IMASLOWREADER ohhh i would to join this 3y
TheAromaofBooks @IMASLOWREADER - This particular readathon ends today (although I'm sure you can still join, since all you need to do is pick a goal & tag the hosts!!) but there are always a lot of readathons throughout the month. @Andrew65 usually hosts one during the third(?) week of the month & there is also #24B4Monday on the last weekend of the month. Those are pick-you-own goal readathons that are just for fun & encouragement!! 3y
Andrew65 @IMASLOWREADER The 9 day Readathon runs from Saturday 16th Jan - Sunday 24th Jan, #JoyousJanuary. This you can set your own goals for. #24B4Monday runs Friday 29th - Sunday 31st Jan. Love to have you join us for these. (edited) 3y
TheAromaofBooks Thank you @Andrew65 !!! I knew you'd have the details!! ❤ 3y
Andrew65 I‘m in the same position as you Lockdown and work meant I read the least I‘ve read over a week in more than a decade or two! Then on Saturday so tired, fell asleep before the end of a page! Do hope things calm down this week. This also why been missing on Litsy this week. (edited) 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Andrew65 - I really appreciate how you've still made the effort to post the daily check-in post, though! I know that's an encouragement for a lot of people. Hopefully this week is a little calmer for you!!! 3y
Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks 🤞🤞🤞 Or people will start to go under.seen a number of head teachers / principals resigned last week or thinking about it, effective immediately. (edited) 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Andrew65 - It's honestly hard to blame them - the strain must be enormous! And it's so hard when everything just keeps changing all the time. The schools in my area have been given a little more leeway to do things as they seem fit, so various districts are involved in various combinations of home/virtual learning. There is a lot of chatter about a much stricter lockdown, though, which I'm sure would change everything. 3y
Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks Help if there was the same flexibility and trust in U.K., not existent. Just get threatened with legal orders and sending in an inspection team. Encouraged by government for parents to complain to OFSTED this week if not happy. 🤬 Instead OFSTEd inundated by over 5000 emails from parents applauding what schools are doing. 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Andrew65 - So frustrating!!!!! I know you are doing your best - hopefully you can find some way to rest & refocus during the chaos!!! 3y

There were a few twists that kept me on the edge of my seat, even surprised me. I really liked Travis because he was a good friend to Heather and he never asked for anything in return, even though he did have a crush on her. There was plenty of action that took place, a few nail-biting scenes as well as some heart touching ones. Overall, this was an action-packed story that had a nice mystery as well as a romance that will melt your heart.
