I've a bookworm-ish exchange this weekend. We went to bring unused sports equipment and got a stack of books instead. All my missing volumes of A Song Of Ice And Fire. But I'm more excited about CW Cerams “Gods, Graves & Scholars“, a book long out of print. It has been on my wishlist for so long and then I spot it in the novel section of our secondhand shop (someone put it on the wrong shelf - THANK YOU!). Sometimes books find their way to you ❤

When I found this book, it sounded familiar. Then I remembered that it was mentioned and highly recommended in the book about the Sky Disc of Nebra I read earlier this year. The authors said, that even though already an older book, it's still worth reading and highly anticipated among archaeologists. I took it home immediately.

And yes, it was such a fascinating read! Ceram writes easy, for the everyday human, not the scientists. Telling us ⬇

Jumping into #colormepretty belatedly, with #purple and #green (days 1 and 2) in the bottom photo, and #brown (day 3) in the top one. The brown book with a difficult to read spine is a Harvard Classics volume containing Plato, Epictetus, and Marcus Aurelius.

Out of daye, not only in information but also at times in attitude, but still captures some of the wonder and grandeur of archaeology and lost civilisations. Btw, if anyone knows any pop history worth reading on the Hittites or the Etruscans, that's where my curiosity is calling me...

The blue book is 'English literature ' by J.M.D. Meiklejohn and I found it in a 'little library' in Germany 😉
