If you‘re trying to write a second-chance romance, you have to tell me WHY they broke up the first time. Now I don‘t know if I want them together or not bc idk what their problems are. Wasn‘t fake dating really, they get back together quickly. I wanted to love it, was excited for the queer Black love but these characters are annoying and underdeveloped. Hudson is so entitled, non communicative, & kian needs to stand tf up, stop falling for this

Mehso-so

This was a so-so for me. The characters were funny and sweet but so, so, young. I nearly put it down a few times, but I wanted to see them happy and settled and it did pay off in the end. Mostly glad to it off my #MountTBR #bookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

This is between a pick and so-so.

Overall it was enjoyable however I didn‘t like how the ending went down and while it‘s an adult book that features almost mid-twenties protagonists sometimes it felt very immature.

I did like both Kian and Hudson and I‘m also hear for a fake relationship.

Currently listening to this while I make breakfast. Enjoying it, but I can‘t get over the fact that one of the guys is named Hudson Rivers.

#gaymay I‘m really glad to see a queer BIPOC author and a book with two Black men on the cover. It had some holes but it was a decent story of second/third?chances and fake dating.

GondorGirl This book was cute enough, but I think it needed a heavier hand with editing. 2y
Nutmegnc @gondorgirl I agree! I thought it was just me. 2y
GondorGirl @Nutmegnc For example... WHY DID THEY BREAK UP?! And why did he know how much all that expensive stuff cost? 2y
Nutmegnc @GondorGirl yeah, the whole second chance thing, and third, was a stretch for me. Never even considered the cost thing 🤣. The whole second chance thing is not my fav trope, so I thought I was being too harsh. 🤣 Had to amend my blurb. (edited) 2y

Meh. Fake dating trope is not for me. This book lacked a lot of tension since it was never explained why they broke up, why it was so important they pretend to date etc

It was cute and well written though the constant pop reference for annoying very quickly.

Oh gosh, just loved it. Actually laughed out loud and found the fake dating your ex and then like oops, what if it's not fake and all the fierce friends and family they each had who were all ready to jump in if someone was mean to them just great.

I loved Kian from the start, but it took me too long to warm up to Hudson. I was still rooting for them, though! #romcom #contemporaryromance
