According to Wikipedia (which is not always the most reliable, but I‘ll “trust” it for this prompt), the original publication of the tagged book was 1963. It has been revised a couple times, as more details about the most famous escape take shape. The movie by the same name (with Clint Eastwood) is based on this book. #December1963 #WinterWonderland

Cinfhen Hahah trusting Wiki can be dangerous!!! But I agree, in this case it‘s fine ❤️ 5y
Kaye Do you think they made it back alive ? 5y
TrishB But it‘s always an interesting read! 5y

Librarybelle @kaye It‘s definitely a fun “what if!” My gut reaction is that they did make it, or at least one of them did. We‘ll probably never know for sure. 5y
Kaye @librarybelle. I think the same. I think they would‘ve eventually found their bodies or parts of them washed up someplace. 5y
Librarybelle @kaye Yes! I know they‘ve found random things in the Bay, but I think there would be more evidence, such as their bodies or parts of them. 5y

YouReadMyEyes @tpixie Nice! The wharf is fun to walk (although crowded). Also Pier 39 and Ghiradelli Square are fun to walk. Enjoy 😊 hope the weather is nice! 5y
tpixie @YouReadMyEyes Awesome! I‘m coming from 20° weather so the 40° - 50° weather will be perfect! 5y

Pickpick

Such an enthralling read, especially after taking a tour of The Rock years back. It's mostly a detailed history of the harsh penitentiary, its infamous inmates like Al Capone and the many escape attempts. Prison bureaucracy tried to keep author Bruce, a crackerjack newspaper reporter, from getting all the facts. But he believed Morris and the Anglins really did make it off the island. And now, so do I.

samwinchester90 One of my favorite places to visit when I'm home in CA. I think I could give the tour now from memory. 😂 Hope you enjoyed! 7y
tpixie It was great! I have been before, but didn't remember the stories of the Indian Occupation , or the families of the guards & their kids that lived there and would take the ferry to school every day!! 7y
tpixie @samwinchester90 oops I forgot to tag you. See above!!! 7y
