Amos Decker -- the FBI consultant with a perfect memory -- returns to solve a gruesome murder in a booming North Dakota oil town in the newest thriller in David Baldacci's #1 New York Times bestselling Memory Man series. When Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are called to London, North Dakota, they instantly sense that the thriving fracking town is ripe for trouble. The promise of a second gold rush has attracted an onslaught of newcomers all hoping for a windfall, and the community is growing faster than houses can be built. The sudden boom has also brought a slew of problems with it, including drugs, property crimes, prostitution -- and now murder.Decker and Jamison are ordered to investigate the death of a young woman named Irene Cramer, whose body was expertly autopsied and then dumped in the open -- which is only the beginning of the oddities surrounding the case. As Decker and Jamison dig into Irene's life, they are shocked to discover that the woman who walked the streets by night as a prostitute was a teacher for a local religious sect by day -- a sect operating on land once owned by a mysterious government facility that looms over the entire community.London is a town replete with ruthless business owners, shady government officials, and religious outsiders, all determined to keep their secrets from coming out. When other murders occur, Decker will need all of his extraordinary memory and detective skills, and the assistance of a surprising ally, to root out a killer and the forces behind Cramer's death. . . before the boom town explodes.

I read Baldacci because my FIL loves his stories and passes the books on. This one involves 4 characters from series who come together to solve several crimes. I liked the fresh take on the relationship these characters formed. Murder mystery, gov conspiracy, FBI meets CIA & some hometown heroes blend to make this an enjoyable book.

This was a good murder mystery set in a fracking town in North Dakota. Amos Decker and Alex Jamison are sent by the FBI to investigate, and they discover something much bigger going on at the local air force base. This is the last in the Memory Man series. The characters are likeable, and the mystery keeps you guessing.

This was a decent thriller. Chopped up lady found done like an expert and following the FBI through their investigation. Things slowly unravel to a catch him ending. #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

Another great fast-paced, couldn‘t-put-it-down, instalment in the Amos Decker series.

Hubby read it before me and got very excited as characters from another Baldacci series arrived on the scene in this book (no spoilers). It didn‘t mean as much to me as I haven‘t read any of that particular series, but has me intrigued enough that I might do!

TrishB I‘ve never read this series 🤔 3y
squirrelbrain I think you might like it @TrishB - I really like Decker as a character. Keep an eye out to see if Book 1 in the series goes on Kindle offer... 3y
TrishB I‘ll keep my eye out. Because you never know when you need a new series 😁 3y

Amos Decker and Alex Jamieson are called in to investigate the grisly murder of a woman in London, North Dakota. She was murdered, expertly autopsied and dumped in the wild! But a far more diabolical conspiracy is at play here in this suddenly rich fracking town! The looming military installation adds it's own secrets to the mystery!

4th book finished for #SuperSeptember! Love this series & David Baldacci‘s books do make fir great audiobooks. If not read the Amos Decker Series I strongly recommend it. A great lead character whose wife & daughter were murdered and Amos remembers everything that ever happens so keeps replaying things. Great interaction between him and Jamieson. Usually David Baldacci series only have 5 or 6 books but do hope and pray there will be more of these.

Andrew65 This one even had a crossover with one of David‘s other series, Will Robie series (which is also excellent) and this just added to the enjoyment of the book. (edited) 4y

More Amos Decker, and some special guests!!! I have to admit I squealed a little! There is a lot going on in this book. Amos and Alex are called to a murder in London, South Dakota. What follows is more murder, attempts on their life, a possible secret government compound, a religious sect, and more murder. One hell of a ride!!!

🎧 good book! Will Robie joins Amos in this story. I enjoy it when an author has crossovers in his/her series. It‘s standard Baldacci fare so if you like Amos & Will you‘ll definitely like this one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So it‘s easier to get a library book lately. I mean a lot easier. I‘m used to waiting 26 weeks 85% of the time! Right now I have 10 books out on loan. I‘ve had to bump books. It‘s crazy. I love whispersync but I own 3 of my 10 library audiobooks in hardcover. Today I‘m reading A Gentleman in Moscow, awesome book and sadly I love the narrator so I‘ve been cleaning just so I have a reason to listen. 🙄 😁 Have you also been reading more lately?
