Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse! 🐀 This MF, RA, Caldecott Honor book is cute story that teaches us forms of jealously and also the meaning of friendship. We meet Alexander, a small house mouse who doesn‘t like being a mouse. He meets a wind-up mouse named Willy in the house one day while exploring and decides he‘d be happier as a toy mouse. In the end, Alexander makes an important decision that helps his friend Willy.

Vanvlieta I love that you chose UDL 3.2. I think is would be a great principle to tie into the reading. It allows students to comprehend what is going on in the story in regards to the relationships, but also tie it into their own life. Love it!❤️👍🏼 3y

I think this book would be great for explaining texture and how that can be portrayed in illustrations. I also can see it tying in with a lesson plan on selfless behavior and in some cases, putting your friends/family before yourself in an effort to help them.

I guess I didn‘t really see the uniqueness of this book. I do however think it‘s really interesting to read a children‘s book that is older than I am. The plot is ultimately that the two mice are jealous of each others lives (one living and one having the child‘s attention). The living mouse gets to choose who to change, himself or his friend mouse.
