If you like SMALL ADMISSIONS by Amy Poepell or CLASS MOM by Laurie Gelman you will love this novel about super mommies, private schools, and getting your worst moment plastered across the internet. Her mommy meltdown is seen around the world! When Quinn Barrett's son refuses to wear his hand-crafted costume to the Little Wonders Preschool Happy Halloween Parade and Dance Party she loses it -- complete with stomping, screaming, and costume-destruction galore. Not her best day. And caught on viral video. Yep, "Halloween Mom" is now internet famous. The posting culprit: tattooed, blue-haired, west-coast transplant Daisy McGulch, out of place in the posh New England town and unable to blend with the other perfect mommies of Little Wonders Preschool. While she couldn't care less about organic snacks (paleo-preferred) or the winter quarters of the Little Wonders chickens, she's not about to admit she's the one who accidently brought Quinn's worst moment to the entire world--she'd be kicked out of town! But when Quinn and Daisy find themselves unlikely cohorts in the fight for Little Wonders Parents Association supremacy, they also discover they have more in common than they expected...but the internet is forever. Can Quinn live down her new reputation? And how far will Daisy go to keep the truth from coming to light? Hilarious, clever, and unforgettable, Little Wonders offers a glimpse into the high-pressure world of modern momming, with natural toys, scrutinized playdates, PTA politics, and social media gone amok.

Bailedbailed

I tried plowing through, I just couldn‘t connect to the characters. Part of the problem is a few books like this have been done recently. The bigger problem is those books have been better.

No one is more judgmental of moms than other moms and this novel about a so called perfect mom having a meltdown and the repercussions when it is posted to social media by one of the new preschool moms, who doesn‘t fit in in the town shows that. Characters are a little too one dimensional and the ending is too easily resolved to be a pick. Full review at https://booknaround.blogspot.com/2020/03/review-little-wonders-by-kate-rorick.ht...

BookishMe So true about other judgemental parents. But when you find those who are not, they become your tribe 4y

Starting another without finishing the previous collection. Story of my life these days.

LibrarianRyan just checking in. How is your #whiterabbitswap going?

BookNAround @LibrarianRyan I was doing great until I was shipped one wrong thing. The new/replacement thing is on its way as of today at which point I‘ll schedule a pickup to mail it all off to @ReadingRover . (Did you know you can schedule package pickups even during this plague?—well, not everywhere but my house is eligible so I don‘t even have to go out to mail it). It might even be on time! (edited) 4y
LibrarianRyan @BookNAround that‘s awesome. I wish I could do that. 4y
BookNAround @LibrarianRyan I had no idea I could do it either until I went to the USPS site to see what my options might be during the stay at home order. Of course, I haven‘t figured it out completely so it could end up being a big fail, in which case you‘ll hear from me again. 😂 4y

I don't enjoy reading about adults (rich or otherwise) behaving badly. This was, largely, a slow, painful slog. I shouldn't have to wait until almost 95% of the book to be interested in the outcome. None of the characters is especially likeable. Near the bitter end, a couple might be somewhat redeemed. Overall: no thanks.

No social interactions, no problem; I‘d rather be home with a book anyways. Thanks @WilliamMorrowBooks and @HarperCollins for my weekend plans!

Pickpick

I didn‘t think I was going to enjoy this book but I surprisingly did. I‘m not a mom, have no desire to me a mom. I have no idea what it‘s like to have the pressure of working, raising a kid or being pressured to participate in volunteering for your child‘s school activities. Everyone wants to show they have a perfect life. You then have women trying to work together and create relationships.

I understand that the author is trying to stay regional, but the Patriots haven‘t played a Thanksgiving Day game since 2012... I easily researched that 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

She could have just said watching football and it
would‘ve been fine.

theladygreer The danger of details! The right ones make the story more real, but the wrong ones -- unforced error, like you said. 4y

Just got this ARC in the mail. I won it on LibraryThing! Thanks @WilliamMorrowBooks and @LibraryThing

I‘ve never heard of the author and it seems like she writes a lot! A historical fiction series and for the TV show The Librarians and a Marvel show.

A mom has a meltdown because her son won‘t wear his costume and it‘s posted online. A new mom posted it and is trying to remain anonymous.
