Lion of Ireland
Lion of Ireland | Morgan Llywelyn
4 posts | 9 read | 7 to read
King, warrior, and lover Brian Boru was stronger, braver, and wiser than all other men-the greatest king Ireland has ever known. Out of the mists of the country's most violent age, he merged to lead his people to the peak of their golden era. His women were as remarkable as his adventures: Fiona, the druidess with mystical powers; Deirdre, beautiful victim of a Norse invader's brutal lust; Gormlaith, six-foot, read-haired goddess of sensuality. Set against the barbaric splendors of the tenth century, this is a story rich in truth and legend-in which friends become deadly enemies, bedrooms turn into battlefields, and dreams of glory are finally fulfilled. Morgan Llywelyn has written one of the greatest novels of Irish history.

Pickpick

An absolutely gripping historical novel about the life of Brian Boru, the first king to unite Ireland in the 10th Century. Intrigue, battles, politics, dreams, determination, Christians, pagans, druids, Vikings, romance… this book has it all! Great on audio… the kind of book that makes you lose track of time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks, @Cuilin for another great #BookedInTime theme - Ancient Celtic Ireland. #ThemesMotifs&Tropes - A Quest (2 points)

Cuilin Sounds fantastic, I remember learning about the Battle of Clontarf in school. 1mo
julieclair @Cuilin I knew nothing about any of this history before reading this book. 1mo
dabbe Pick is on the spreadsheet! I'm reading this one, too! And now I can't wait based on your review! 🤩😃😍 1mo
julieclair @dabbe I hope you love it! I recommend listening on audio. The Irish accents lent authenticity, and I didn‘t have to stumble over all the Gaelic words. 1mo
dabbe @julieclair Great advice! Thanks. 💚 1mo

These both predate anything called Belfast, but I'm sure there's action in and around those parts of Ireland within. #BelfastChild #JuneTunz

Well, definitely in the 1990s this publisher had a penchant for #dusk covers

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Whooooa. I've seen that exact cover art from the David Gemmell one in front on a Gene Wolfe book! 7y
