Jason Arnopp - author of acclaimed cult hit The Last Days of Jack Sparks - returns with a razor-sharp thriller for a social-media obsessed world. Prepare to never look at your phone the same way again . . . Kate Collins has been ghosted. She was supposed to be moving in with her new boyfriend Scott, but all she finds after relocating to Brighton is an empty apartment. Scott has vanished. His possessions have all disappeared. Except for his mobile phone. Kate knows she shouldn't hack into Scott's phone. She shouldn't look at his Tinder, his calls, his social media. But she can't quite help herself. That's when the trouble starts. Strange, whispering phone calls from numbers she doesn't recognize. Scratch marks on the walls that she can't explain. And the growing feeling that she's being watched. Kate refuses to leave the apartment - she's not going anywhere until she's discovered what happened to Scott. But the deeper she dives into Scott's digital history the more Kate realizes just how little she really knows about the man she loves. Talk about a book that grabbed me by the throat for about 200 pages only to lose me in the final third. There‘s so much about this book I like. It‘s the definition of a page turner, it‘s spooky, it‘s got a sense of humor. But the final 100 pages lost me. Can‘t explain why without spoilers.

BarbaraBB Great pic nevertheless! Sorry the book was underwhelming! (edited) 2y

I am so excited for #scarathlon #screamathon #sbooktober and everything else this spooky season that I got quite a large stack of spooky/mystery reads from the library today. Can‘t wait to dive in, trick is deciding where to start first 🤔

This book sucked me right in. I loved how unique it was and so creepy. I kept trying to figure out where it was going. The protagonist was so flawed but such a rich character. I am definitely going to look for more from this author.

This was fun and great for binge reading. The concept is fun and watching the mystery unfold with the alternating timelines was really interesting. The only downside was it wasn't scary. At all. There were two moments where it got a little spooky, but overall the creep factor was seriously lacking.

I went into this expecting a psychological thriller, but the author takes the issue of our obsession with social media and crafts a thriller with supernatural occurrences. I felt that it didn't always work, but on the whole it was an intriguing concept which kept me reading. 3⭐️

TW: swearing, sexual scenes, discussion about porn, violence.

Thanks to NetGalley and publishers, Little, Brown Book Group / Orbit, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

This is a read in one sitting novel that‘s utterly gripping. Part thriller, part ghost story and a cautionary tale of the dangers of social media and addiction to the dopamine high of likes and ‘validation‘. With touches of humour and some geeky movie references this is a fun, yet dark, spooky and twisty thriller. A perfect Halloween read.

Thanks, #NetGalley for the chance to read Arnopp‘s book! It‘s a great one for October (and is also something of a Litsy anniversary for me, as his impressive debut novel was my first Litsy post!). This second novel is a fast-paced, modern and somehow still traditional horror novel that will have you thinking about addiction, your phone and dark futures... #TeamStoker 3pts #Scarathlon

Kate quits her job and moves to a new city to be with her boyfriend Scott. When she gets to the apartment all of the furniture is gone and she doesn't hear anything from Scott.

Arnopp's "The Last Days of Jack Sparks" was one of the best horror books I read last year. Clever, funny, creepy & inventive. Although he's sporadically released short stories since Last Days, Ghoster, which releases in 3 weeks, is his much anticipated follow up. (Side note: Last Days etc is the only book I've read that felt similar to Head Full of Ghosts. They're like cousins who are also BFF)
