Super fun story that would make a wonderful play. It‘s a mystery and a romance. There is some light hearted banter but also dark sinistry.

This is a fabulously fun mystery. I just love discovering writers from the past. This was not as literary than Christie, but it kept me going all the way to the end.

Relaxing with this book & a kitty on my lap, after a more than wonderful extended family reunion today- both my dad‘s & my mom‘s sides together. Cousins etc. I have not seen in years!

I understand that there are many stupid people in the world, but I don't have to read about them. The protagonist is stupid and the potential victim is even worse. I'd stab her myself if I had to listen to her drivel for more than a minute.

A knitting detective? Yes, please! I love these mysteries from the golden age. Lethally charming, but it does take a while to get rolling. After the prolonged set-up, I happily followed along and finished in forty-eight hours. Pretty unheard of for me these days.

"'But I can't take your case unless you are frank with me. Frankness on your part - discretion on mine.'

She picked up the stocking and began to knit, holding the needles in the German way. After one round she looked at Charles and smiled again.

'Well, Mr. Moray?'

Charles told her everything...."

I just could not make the beginning make any sense. I have since read some reviews that say the Miss Silver series started off very weak, but I like to read series from the beginning. 😐 #mystery #anglophilesoflitsy #series #detective

An old fashioned mystery, this seemed so campy but I would up getting sucked in. Despite figuring the twist out early, I had a lot of fun.

3.5 stars. It had been far too long since I read a Golden Age mystery so I really enjoyed this. It wasn't perfect. It had some of the too convenient plot points that can be characteristic of the time. I also found Margot to become increasingly annoying after the first few chapters. It didn't help that I figured out the big reveal (who is Grey Mask) long before it was revealed.

This is a very small sampling of books I own set in London. I would conservatively estimate I have at least 100, and if you extend to the greater U.K., probably a solid 300-400. I am a ridiculous Anglophile, and the months I spent in London are some of my favorite memories, so I like to relive them in my fiction. 🙂 #17booklove (Day 11) #setinabelovedlocation

The first of the Miss Silver books, Grey Mask is a delight and an excellent start the series! Miss Silver is only in the book briefly, but the mystery is fun and smart. Classic who-dun-it set in London in the 1930s. I received a copy from Open Road Integrated Media via NetGalley.

A quick read, and reasonably mysterious but I felt too distant from all the characters. The strongest emotion any of them stirred in me was a desire to slap Margot until she became a bit more sensible. However I suspect I'll try at least one more Wentworth mystery.
