The Irish Bride
The Irish Bride : Book 12, The Gareth and Gwen Medieval Mysteries | Sarah Woodbury
12 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
August 1148. The wedding of Godfrid and Cait promises to be the event of the year, and even Gwen has made the journey across the Irish Sea to celebrate. Weddings can be moments around which tensions and resentments pivot, however, so when a monk turns up dead within moments of Gareth and Gwen’s arrival in Ireland, the pair put on their sleuthing hats and get to work, racing to solve the mystery before it ruins Godfrid’s big day.
Join Gareth & Gwen and their friends and companions for murder and maybe, in Medieval Dublin in The Irish Bride, the 12th Gareth & Gwen Medieval Mysteries.

I love seeing Dai growing up and becoming a greater member of the dragons. The mystery itself was great and kept me on my toes until the end (I didn‘t remember who killed whom from my first time through). I loved this story, but could someone please teach Laurel Schroeder how to say “chomping at the bit.” “Champing” isn‘t even a word. Where was the director on this thing? Seriously.

Bookwomble I'd also say "champing", as it's the form of that saying I learnt at school ? 2y

Another great Gareth and Gwen mystery. I love seeing Llelo and Dai (their adopted sons) growing into wonderful young men, and Tangwen and Taran (their biological children) getting to go on adventures to Ireland with everyone else. This family really does stick together. I recommend this book, as I recommend this series.

GingerAntics I can‘t wait to read more of Gareth and Gwen‘s investigations, but I‘m also interested in the new series (set about 1,000 years later than this one) she‘s about to release as well. If Woodbury has written it, I‘ll give it a go. I just hope we get a new Gareth and Gwen Mystery sooner rather than later. #SarahWoodbury #WelshHistory #GarethandGwen #TheIrishBride #Ireland #Wales 5y

WHAT?! NOOOOO!!! I NEED THE NEXT BOOK SOONER RATHER THAN LATER!!! I ALWAYS NEED MORE GARETH AND GWEN!!!
(I will totally read this new series, though, obviously.)
All the more reason to reread this series. My review of this book will be coming shortly.

GingerAntics I can‘t get enough of this series, @texreader. Clearly I need to reread this series and cross my fingers another one is released sooner rather than later. The new series sounds interesting, too, though. I guess we shall see. 5y
Texreader So it was good? 😉 5y
GingerAntics @Texreader loved it. Although, it never came out exactly how the guy died, now that I think about it. Was it the whisky? Was it poison? 5y

I didn‘t see that coming. A monk wanted to go a Viking? Wow.

julesG Now that sounds very much like "Vikings" Aethelstan (sp?) 5y
GingerAntics @julesG I didn‘t put that together, but you‘re right!!! I‘ve got to go back and binge that show again. I love that show. Turns out I‘m a Viking, so I guess I should take notes this time. 5y
julesG I want to binge it too. Before watching the latest season 5y

As a reader, it‘s interesting to think of the different ways reading, writing, and books have been viewed throughout history. It‘s also a little ironic to find this in a book for a series I tend to devour in a hours as opposed to days.

Gareth, Gareth, Gareth, what are we to do with you? Almost coddled your wife, then you don‘t remember that your reputation precedes you. SMH

Even Gareth knows not to cross Gwen, just in the nick of time.

Texreader Perfect! 5y
GingerAntics @Texreader about to start getting ready for bed, but I‘ve read the first 5 chapters. Of course I‘m in love. Found out Gareth is 33 and now expecting a very odd and random cause of death, thanks to this dedication. 💚❤️💚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 5y
Texreader Yikes! Was it easy to pick up from the last book? 5y
GingerAntics @Texreader oh yeah. The last book was all about Godfrid and he finally asked Cait to marry him. So we hadn‘t seen Gareth and Gwen for a whole book. I didn‘t have any problems and I doubt you will either. She does a good job of making you feel in the loop, even though I don‘t remember the book before last. This series is definitely getting a reread. 5y

GingerAntics @Texreader 33, that‘s why I found it fitting that Gareth is 33 in this book and thinking about going soft about the middle. 🤣😂🤣 5y

ONE. MORE. DAY!!! I‘m so excited for this book to appear on my iPad at midnight tonight!!!

Tagged book is the first book in this series. The pic is the cover of the 13th book (14th if you count the prequel story 0.5) in the series.

GingerAntics @Texreader that‘s better. Thanks for the reminder!!! Gareth and Gwen weren‘t really in the last one, but they were mentioned a lot. I‘m trying to remember what the book before that one was about. I may have to reread the series after I read this new one. It seems Gareth and Gwen are going to Ireland for a wedding...and of course there is a murder!!! lol 5y
GingerAntics @Texreader there we go...I added the book myself via the internet. For whatever reason it wouldn‘t let me copy and past the description from Woodbury‘s website, so I had to type it in manually. At least it‘s in there now. (edited) 5y
Texreader @GingerAntics Yay! Glad you did that. Someday I should learn how to do it. 5y

GingerAntics @Texreader it seems you have to do it from the website. If you type in a book and it‘s not there, it gives you the option to add it yourself. Then you enter all the info you have, including the option to upload a cover image. 5y
Texreader @GingerAntics That sounds easy enough 5y
GingerAntics @Texreader I think the hardest part was the date being in an odd order. It was pretty easy. Too bad they haven‘t added the power to add a book to the app yet. 5y
Crazeedi I must check out this series! Thanks! 5y
