The beautiful vistas of Pawleys Island hide a dark sidethe murder of a local girl fifteen years ago and the strange disappearance of her two friends. The story of the unsolved crime could be journalist Nicole Sullivans big break. But while Nicole works intimately with the Police Chief Joe Franconi, her investigation takes a haunting turn when another young woman is murdered. As the body count rises, so does Nicoles fear that a killer has come home to Pawleys Island to bury a terrifying secret, and resurrect the haunting legacy of a shocking and unforgivable crime.

Day 25 - #superstition #octoberxfiles

The superstitious practice of placing a rusty nail through a lemon is to ward off the evil eye.

TheBookAddict Never heard of that one. Growing up I remember people making sure that infants and toddlers had a red beaded bracelet to ward off the “evil eye.” Maybe that‘s just part of Mexican superstition. I still see those bracelets on children once in a while, but it‘s not as common anymore. 6y
EadieB @TheBookAddict I‘m sure there are probably a dozen different superstitions for the same thing. 6y
TheBookAddict @EadieB yep, it‘s quite interesting to read about those kinds of things. 6y

Day 23 - #superstition #blackcatchallenge

The word superstition is often used to refer to a religion not practiced by the majority of a given society regardless of whether the prevailing religion contains alleged superstitions. It is also commonly applied to beliefs and practices surrounding luck, prophecy, and certain spiritual beings, particularly the belief that future events can be foretold by specific (apparently) unrelated prior events.
