One of the most interesting things that I learned in this book is the fact that there are several different words for a group of vultures, depending on what activity they're engaged in. If they're feeding, it's a wake of vultures. If they're resting, it's a committee of vultures, and if they're in flight, it's a kettle of vultures.
I apologize for the less than perfect picture. I could've taken a better one, but I don't have the patience. I mean, I'm patient, but I'm not patient patient.
I've also read that it's called golf because women weren't allowed to play it, so they called it golf as an acronym for Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden. "Gouf" sounds like the more plausible (albeit less interesting) reason why it's called that.
