The tale of Cinderella has been retold countless times. But what you know is not the true story. Sarah Prineass bold fairy-tale retelling is a dark and captivating world where swords are more fitting than slippers, young shoemakers are just as striking as princes, and a heroine is more than ready to rescue herself before the clock strikes midnight. Pin has no recollection of who she is or how she got to the Godmothers fortress. She only knows that she is a Seamstress, working day in and out to make ball gowns fit for fairy tales. But she longs to forsake her backbreaking servitude and dares to escape with the brave young Shoemaker. Pin isnt free for long before shes captured again and forced to live the new life the Godmother chooses for hera fairy-tale story, complete with a charming princeinstead of finding her own happily ever after. When the glass slipper just doesnt fit . . .

An interesting retelling of Cinderella. It wasn‘t bad. I found myself skimming in parts though.
Much of this is set up for a series which is fine it does progress the story, but at times it just gets in the way.
2.7 ⭐️ If you like a fairytale retelling and a strong female character then take a look at this one.
This is a soft pick.

This Cinderella story is dark at times and has an unexpected ending. It‘s full of adventure, love and magic. There are many other fairytale characters woven into it. I had fun picking them out. #100YEARS100BOOKS #61 #BookSpinBingo #5 #YApril #9 #ThankfulAthon

I LOVED this book. It is a clever deconstruction of the concept of fairy tales. What if the stories were darker than they seem? What if magic was not truly as magic as it appears, if the beautiful dresses and shoes were made by slaves kept prisoners in a tower surrounded by a high wall covered with brambles? The newest seamstress knows she must escape the tower. But can she escape her own story?

Chrissyreadit It‘s so odd- I can‘t find it on goodreads! 4y
ulrichyumiodd @Chrissyreadit Try Googling it! I was able to find it easily on Goodreads that way. It seems to have a lot of bad reviews everywhere (though a 3.51 average on Goodreads), but I truly enjoyed it. 4y

Day 5: Slipper

I love this reworking of Cinderella. The entire concept is genius and executed so well.

Jovy I‘ve never heard of this! Stacked!! 6y
Linsy Love the title! 6y
brandymuses @Jovy I love it though it‘s incredibly different from most retellings. There‘s a companion novel that is a Sleeping Beauty. It‘s also excellent. 6y

I so wanted to like this book because of is interesting concepts and plot structure. However, I had so much trouble with aspects of the writing, the ironically one dimensional characters, and the pacing of this book, that I had to force myself to finish it if only to move on to something else.

Cityofamber I was so excited when I found this because it sound so good. I DNFed it. :( 6y

The story in the book is incredible - a retelling of Cinderella that's not so much a retelling as a complete twist on fairy-tale worlds. What if Story became a force of its own and drove people into a happily-ever-after?

The story-telling, not such a hit with me. It took at least half the book for me to connect with it.

Still a pick because of how innovative it is.

Chachic I have this one on my TBR pile. 7y

I'm DNFing this at about 25%. I can't get into it. It's a really interesting and unique concept but I can't get into and I'm feeling no motivation to read it.

I love fairy tale retellings and I grabbed this one when it went on sale because my friend @brandymuses highly recommends it.

EloisaJames Love the title. I added to stack--thanks! 8y
Chachic @EloisaJames I think the title is lovely, a fitting choice for a fairy tale retelling. The sequel also has a great title: 8y
Angieville Let me know what you think. 8y
Chachic @Angieville Will do! Although I have no idea when I'll be able to read it. 😂 8y
