The Cat Who Went Bananas
The Cat Who Went Bananas | Lilian Jackson Braun
2 posts | 9 read | 4 to read
The merry atmosphere in Pickax is dampened by the death of an out-of-town actor and the theft of a rare book. Qwill finds himself distracted from the events by his finicky pal Koko, who's been acting more fishy than feline. Has Koko gone bananas, or is he trying to let the cat out of the bag to solve the dual mysteries?

Revisiting this one, I promptly remembered it wasn‘t one of favorites. However, it was interesting to listen again, knowing the outcome. Paraphrasing Polly‘s remark, “There is some good in the worst of us, and some bad in the best of us.” There is little black and white in this story, which I appreciated more this time around.

sarahbellum Love The Cat Who series 😻 1y
mabell @sarahbellum I do too! And, George Guidall‘s perfect narration makes the stories and characters come to life 😊 1y

I love this series! Lilian Jackson Braun was such a talented writer. There is so much more complexity than one would expect from a cozy, and Quill is a perfectly drawn 50-year-old bachelor. Comfortable in his bachelorhood, former journalist with journalism still in his blood, and slave to his imperious Siamese cats.

Of course George Guidall's reading is perfect, as well.
