An inspiring epilogue to the beloved nursery rhyme 'Humpty Dumpty', from the New York Times-bestselling and award-winning author and illustrator of THE ADVENTURES OF BEEKLE and ARE WE THERE YET? Everyone knows that when Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. But what happened afterwards? Caldecott Medalist Dan Santat's poignant tale follows Humpty Dumpty, an avid birdwatcher whose favourite place to be is high up on the city wall - that is, until after his famous fall. Now terrified of heights, Humpty can longer do many of the things he loves most. Will he summon the courage to face his fear? This masterful picture book will remind readers of all ages that life begins when you get back up. 'mind-bogglingly clever' NEW YORK TIMES on Dan Santat's ARE WE THERE YET?

#SeptemberSenses Day 18: There is the dreaded #SenseOfFalling for Humpty after the fall. This is an extraordinary story of courage, self-determination, and a shaky-yet-firm resolve to not allow one‘s anxieties to rule one‘s entire life. The transformative power of terror and climbing higher while one turns green in the face, with the knowledge that one can fall helplessly at any minute is done so well. “After that day, I became afraid of Heights” After the Fall tells the heart-wrenching story of Humpty Dumpty after he recovered from his fall. Humpty, now with PTSD, and has to cope with everyday life but his anxiety stops him from enjoying the little things. No longer can Humpty climb a latter to get to the top shelf at the store,

LauraLeighn no longer can he feel like he‘s among the birds high in the sky. This book introduces students to PTSD symptoms and Anxiety and shows them how easily it can take over their lives. This book can be used for Shared reading(SR), with the UDL 9.2( Facilitate personal coping skills and strategies ) and let the emotional coping mechanisms of Humpty be picked apart by students. This book helps to show students how to overcome anxiety and fear, and that 4y
LauraLeighn it is ok that healing takes time. It is important to remember your ELL‘s so by using ESOL 25. (Incorporate second language acquisition strategies in the curriculum) you can ensure students are getting the most out of this lesson. Translating new and high-frequency words will help to ensure they are comprehending the story. This is a truly great book for introducing anxiety and personal coping skills. 4y
LauraLeighn Once Again Mrs.Jumps class has amazing lesson plans for grades k-2 that are made specifically for After the Fall. They include timelines activities as well as cause and effect practice. https://deannajump.com/after-the-fall-humpty-dumpty/ #ucflae3414SU20 4y

DrSpalding Your universal design principle works perfectly with your Humpty Dumpty that now has PTSD. This is an excellent variant of the original nursery rhyme. The illustrators pictures are fantastic! 4y

Great for reading aloud. Theme perseverance. Everyone knows the story of the Humpty Dumpty, but few know what happened to him after his fall and recovery. After his fall Humpty Dumpty develop a feared to Heights, and because of this, he could not enjoy anything that he liked, such as eating a box of cereal. Eventually he did overcome his fear. It is a book with a positive meaning that should be shared with everyone.

After the Fall by Dan Santat, 2017. Charlotte Huck Award Winning Book. This storybook is great for children as the author puts a twist on the original story of Humpty Dumpty by adding a what happened after he fell?! This book teaches young children about fear as we find out all the things humpty fears after his fall. The author also uses illustrations in a way to set the mood from contrast in colors!

This TL picture book by 2015 Caldecott medal winner Dan Santat creates an alternative twist to the original Humpty Dumpty tale. Everyone knows the tale that when Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. But what happened after? After the fall, he is now terrified of heights and can‘t do many of the things he loves most. #ucflae3414f19

sbombasi This book will be a good RA to show readers to not let fear, a fall, or a bad encounter stop you from getting back up again and doing what you want to achieve.

The UDL principle 1.1 offering ways of customizing the display of information along with EL #16 integrate speaking, listening, reading and writing activities aligns with this.

sbombasi This site offers different types of activities to go along with this book, specifically After “The End” I found was a great way to promote text-to-text connections for students. The students continue the stories of traditional literature tales such as Jack and Jill and can be represented in different ways such as writing, song, poem, or skit.

After the Fall is a great book on how Humpty Dumpty got back up again! This story written and illustrated by Dan Santat is all about what happened to Humpty after had that great fall and couldn‘t put back together again. This book teaches you to not let fear stop you from achieving what you want. This website has a variety of lessons (my favorite being the egg experiment) and could be use for many different school topics. EL strategy 41(compile

Bshelton27 Notebooks of their hypothesis and field experiences) and UDL strategy 5.2 (use multiple tools for construction and composition) would be used. http://www.theclassroombookshelf.com/2017/10/after-the-fall-how-humpty-dumpty-go... #ucflae3414su19 5y
