Jesse Wheeler disappeared a couple of years ago, just after playing a reunion gig with his band, The Rising Dead. Rumor has it he had just finished reading a book like the one you're holding now. He's not the only one, either. Supposedly there's a whole bunch of people who've disappeared. But that's probably just a folktale, wouldn't you say?

Mehso-so

Jesse's band gets together for a final play. They haven't been together to play for years. Jesse gets taken to a location where he is kept captive. He read a book that another band member gave him that describes the same type thing that is happening to him. Jesse keeps warning us that it will now happen to us now that we are reading the book.
A bizarre book.

Meet Jesse, a former member of a heavy metal band who reads a book with a warning, the same warning that was in my copy, your warned to put the book down, to throw it away. Or it will haunt you. Like me, Jesse read the book.

A story about a book that after reading, the reader enters a personal hell. That sounded really interesting. I was expecting to learn about the history of this book. Unfortunately, the beginning was just a confusing mess. There is some philosophical and existential talk. Not my favorite genre to read. I did find the second half of the book to be an interesting story, and that is what redeemed the book for me.

I'm sure there is an audience for this book somewhere but I have to say that I would not recommend this book to anyone I know. I'm going to go lay down now my head hurts from rolling my eyes so much 🙄

The beginning of this book was really creepy. I love Jesse‘s warning to the reader about reading the book. The science or lab part of the story was confusing and weird. I had no idea where the story was going. It had a dream like quality to it. Even when I was confused, I had to keep reading to find out what happened to Jesse and his family. There‘s a twist that was a surprise but I‘m not sure I understood the ending. Recommend if you like weird.
