The Hundredth Man
The Hundredth Man | Jack Kerley
4 posts | 3 read | 5 to read
Bizarre messages, found carved into the flesh of two corpses in Mobile, Alabama, have launched a special unit devoted to solving psychotic crimes. Theyre also launching Detective Carson Ryder into a nightmare. Ryders secret investigative weapon is his own familys terrifying pastand the shadowy counsel of his own brother, a brutal and taunting killer who knows all too well how madmen think. And as the body count continues, so too does Ryders inescapable fear that the killer is as intimateand as closeas the next victim.

Mehso-so

#TheHundredthMan #JackKerley #BookSpinBingo

Jack Kerley's debut novel. A headless body is found with words inked on the skin. When another mutilated victim turns up, Carson Ryder determines that it is a serial killer and not a crime of passion. I found this book hard to get into and too many happenings going on at the same time. The dialogue also seemed a bit disjointed. Hopefully the plot will move along a little better in the second book.

Pickpick

This was most probably somewhere between so-so and a pick. It was an interesting introduction to a new series and a new character, but at times it did appear to plod along. Hopefully this will pick up the pace in future books in the series. A very strange dynamic, frightening,y so, between Carson and his incarcerated brother.

8th book finished for #OutstandingOctober

Tove_Reads Yes, could be better with a faster pace and less pages. Same goes for the second book in the series. 2y
Andrew65 Shame the second book didn‘t address this, I‘m just about to start this. (edited) 2y

The Carson Ryder Series. Read Blood Brother and had me hooked but not got back to them.

EadieB @Andrew65 That‘s a good choice! I own some of his books! 3y
Tove_Reads Both this one and Parrish works for me. Tough choice! Maybe the Ryder series. Been meaning to read it for so long. 3y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I would be willing to change my vote to the Ryder series too. @Andrew65 3y
