SuperFreakonomics
SuperFreakonomics | Steven D. Levitt, Stephen J. Dubner
9 posts | 48 read | 26 to read
The New York Times bestselling Freakonomics was a worldwide sensation. Now, Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner return with SuperFreakonomics, and fans and newcomers alike will find that the "freakquel" is even bolder, funnier, and more surprising than the first. SuperFreakonomics challenges the way we think all over again, exploring the hidden side of everything with such questions as: How is a street prostitute like a department store Santa? Who adds more value: a pimp or a Realtor? What do hurricanes, heart attacks, and highway deaths have in common? Did TV cause a rise in crime? Can eating kangaroo meat save the planet? Whether investigating a solution to global warming or explaining why the price of oral sex has fallen so drastically, Levitt and Dubner show the world for what it really isgood, bad, ugly, and, in the final analysis, superfreaky.

I‘m a social scientist and I love behavioural economics. If you‘ve read Freakonomics or listened to the podcast, you‘ll know what you‘re in store for here. It‘s just as interesting, well-paced and thoughtfully analysed as you‘d hope it would be. If you‘re not familiar with Freakonomics, buckle up- this is behavioural economics at its best.

Read in 2019 🤓

Economics on steroids - the authors mix math with storytelling. This book is the sequel to ‘Freakonomics‘.

Great, casual read. Some chapters are more interesting than others.

I always have this (or Diet Coke) around while reading. #readingsnacks #booktober @RealLifeReading

Erik_The_Read As much as I love to read, no one is impervious to an occasional Netflix binge. Big shout out to HIMYM on this post. 7y
saguarosally @Erik_The_Read Netflix isn't excluded. Fuller House Season 2 comes out this week. 7y

Which one should I read next? I need them both for 2 challenges on Goodreads. #seasonalreadingchallenge #historicalfictionistas #goodreads

TheCanuckReader I'm a huge Kingsolver fan but I haven't read the Lacuna yet. On my TBR! 8y
NataliePatalie I thought you said Freakonomics was boring? 8y
Blueberry No, it's quite interesting, some chapters more so than others ie. The chapter about why drug dealers still live with their momma's. 8y
Blueberry Superfreakonomics has just as good ratings (teeny - tiny better) as it's predecessor which I thought is great for a sequel. 8y
NataliePatalie Ah I must have been thinking about a different book then 👍 8y
