As far as I can tell, this book was actually published in 2001 (not 1642). 🤣

Be that as it may, I‘ll give it a soft pick. Great setting of Lake Tahoe, interesting main characters, and a compelling mystery story about a messed up family with SECRETS. Some of the action, however, is beyond ridiculous, and I don‘t plan to read more of the series.

I wanted a #Nevada book that‘s not set in Vegas, so it fit the bill. #52mysteries

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I‘m marking this book a pick. I quite liked it, and to be honest, I didn‘t expect to. Owen McKenna is a PI with a girlfriend who specializes in blowfly research, and a Harlequin Great Dane named “Spot,” who travels everywhere with his owner. The three make for an excellent detecting squad. The author, Borg, does certain things very well: He makes Owen a sort of renaissance man, well versed in art & psychology; (cont.)

gradcat (Cont) he paints the geography of Lake Tahoe beautifully; and he adds enough action to make a reader get nervous. I‘m rating it four stars only because I figured out who the villain was fairly early on—however, I did not have the right motive. This is a very large series (maybe 16 books?), so if you like it, you‘ll have loads of material. This is the first in the Owen McKenna series by Todd Borg. 7y
