In this Wall Street Journal bestseller, a pair of ritual murders could expose Mercy Kilpatrick to something terrifying: her own past... Raised off the grid by survivalists, Mercy Kilpatrick believed in no greater safeguard than the backwoods of Oregon. Unforgiven by her father for abandoning the fold for the FBI, Mercy still holds to her past convictions. They're in her blood. They're her secrets--as guarded as her private survival retreat hidden away in the foothills. In a cabin near her hideaway, Mercy encounters a young girl whose grandmother is dying from multiple knife wounds. Hundreds of miles away, a body is discovered slashed to death in a similar way. The victims--a city judge and an old woman living in the woods--couldn't be more different. With the help of police chief Truman Daly, Mercy must find the killer before the body count rises. Mercy knows that the past has an edge on her. So does her family. How can she keep her secrets now...when they're the only things that can save her?

The 3rd of the series is soooo much better than the other two! Invested in the characters and the main storyline of this one is more interesting!

I was hooked from the start till the end. And I hated that since I couldn‘t concentrate on other stuff. Mercy is being ‘dragged‘ into a case where she uncovers secrets and more secrets from the past. And we get to know a little about Truman‘s past too. I do enjoy seeing the interaction between Mercy and Truman. It‘s building. #romanticsuspense

My June wrap up! Pretty good list since I was SO busy with work- but I guess reading for an hour every night while in bed really helped this along.

Lots of #YA this month. One #truecrime and lots of #readingchallenge books crossed off!

#DNF BEAUTIFUL RUINS, but not because I don‘t enjoy it- my mother in law wanted to read it while she‘s in town so she “stole” it for the next week.

BetseyAnd I have the Mercy series, but haven‘t started them yet. How are they? 11mo

I started Book 3 today. Another quick read in the Kilpatrick series. Loving it‘s plot line and character base... can‘t wait to see where this one takes me!
