Poetry. R E D is an erasure of Bram Stoker's Dracula. A long poem in 27 chapters, R E D excavates from Stoker's text an original narrative of violence, sexual abuse, power dynamics, vengeance, and feminist rage while wrestling with the complexities of gender, transition, and monsterhood.

lil1inblue Wow. Excellent pick. I love “this want is wine of your own making.“ What a great line. 😍 2mo

dabbe @lil1inblue And the alliteration with the “w“ gives the exact sound of wanting. 😍 2mo

lil1inblue @dabbe That hadn't even occurred to me, but you're so right. I love when there's so much to unpack in one little line. 2mo
dabbe @lil1inblue As a former English teacher, poetry (to me) was the best way to teach language. Every single word counts. Students would be exhausted after we'd analyze a poem with just a few lines. #goodtimes 🤩 2mo

Just started, but can already tell this one is a gotta read. A poetry erasure of Bram Stoker's Dracula but much more than that.
