A supposed hunting accident becomes a dangerously complicated murder investigation in this intricately-plotted new thriller featuring Maine Game Warden Mike Bowditch.A woman has been shot to death by a deer hunter on an island off the coast of Maine. To newly promoted Warden Investigator Mike Bowditch, the case seems open and shut. But as soon as he arrives on remote Maquoit Island he discovers mysteries piling up one on top of the other. The hunter now claims he didn't fire the fatal shot and the ballistic evidence proves he's telling the truth. Bowditch begins to suspect the secretive community might be covering up the identity of whoever killed Ariel Evans. The controversial author was supposedly writing a book about the island's notorious hermit. So why are there no notes in her rented cottage? The biggest blow comes the next day when the weekly ferry arrives and off steps the dead woman herself. Ariel Evans is alive, well, and determined to solve her own "murder" even if it upsets Mike Bowditch's investigation and makes them both targets of an elusive killer who will do anything to conceal his crimes.

Just finished another great book by Paul Doiron, this one set on Maquoit Island, off the coast of Maine. Mike Bowditch is investigating what has been reported as a hunting incident. In his first outing as Warden Investigator, Mike faces insular residents, threats, and far, far too many deer. The usual rip-roaring finish.

I do enjoy Doiron‘s mysteries!

Paul Doiron's 9th book in the Mike Bowditch series is another good one. He has developed Mike Bowditch throughput the series. If you haven't ever read him, I would suggest starting with the first book "The Poachers Son."

I love this series. Some how I missed this book when it hits my library in July. Had to get it on an inner library loan from another library in our county. Can't wait to see what Mike Bowditch is up to this time.

I loved this book! It grabbed my attention from the first couple of pages and never let go. I really like Warden Mike and appreciate how the author has developed his character. The island setting in this book is almost like another character in the book. I didn‘t see the solution to the mystery until the very end - nicely done! Also a perfect way to start a 3 day weekend.

I love this series! I was hooked by page three! #sisforseptember #sofar

Mike Bowditch, a game warden in Maine, is now an investigator, and his first case takes him to a small island off the coast. If you haven‘t read any yet, start with his first, The Poacher‘s Son.

Starting #24in48 for the first time! Don‘t know what I‘m doing but I do know how to read! The book I‘m starting with is the tagged book, which is on Axis360. I‘ll be alternating with Uprooted, so I can change it up a bit. Have fun all!

UwannaPublishme Enjoy your first #24in48. I think this is my 5th. Get ready for the fun! I like to keep a few short books or graphic novels on hand for the wee hours. Happy reading! 😊📚👏🏻👏🏻 6y
