1 post | 5 read | 1 to read
Before the accident, Lia Kahn was happy. Before the accident, Lia Kahn was loved. Lia was a lot of things before She was normal, alive and human. But Lia no longer believes in before. Six months after the crash that killed her, six months after being reborn, Lia has finally accepted her new reality. She is a machine, a mech, and she belongs with her own kind. It's a wild and carefree life, without rules and without fear. Because there's nothing to fear when you have nothing left to lose. But when a voice from her past cries out for revenge, everything changes and Lia is forced to choose between her old life and her new one. How many people - mechs and human - is Lia willing to hurt to protect her freedom? And how far is she willing to go to protect the people she loves? In the tradition of Scott Westerfeld comes the second book in this riveting and edgy science fiction novel which raises questions of mortality, technology and morality.

Thank you all for the well wishes. Mom and dad are fine except for a few seatbelt bruises.

Here‘s what happened.

They were coming around this blind curve right before a bridge outside Allenville. The minute dad saw it, he yelled Dear knowing they would never get stopped in time. The same time dad saw it the safety system in the truck saw it and took over to bring the truck to a stop. Dad has no control. 👇🏻

LibrarianRyan Usually the onboard computer is disposed to stop the truck going strait forward. But since they were coming around a corner it corrected. The roads were clear but the sides of the road were still covered in ice. They hit the ice and it sent the truck spinning in circles all over the road. For a change no one else was on the road so no one was hurt or no one else was involved. Dad said the minute the fear hit OnStar was one and mom was still 👇🏻 5y
LibrarianRyan Screaming. Once the truck came to a full stop dad talked with OnStar. They sent for the tow made sure mom and dad didn‘t need an ambulance etc. they even called my Uncle whose house they were just out while they were unbuckling and finding phones. My uncle Will and cousin Josh picked them up and drive them home. Mom was screaming because she thought the truck was in fire. She smelled smoke. This was from the AC gas line puncturing and releasing 5y
LibrarianRyan Into the cabin. The temp tire difference (5f) outride and the cabin caused a chemical reaction which led to the smell. They hit a very large, very old deer. This truck was my dads new baby. He only had it a month. It‘s a 3/4 ton crew cab (really big). It doesn‘t look that bad unless you get close. The grill is gone the heater coils torn up, radiator gouged. The mounting brackets for the front end pieces as well as the lights👇🏻 5y

Cinfhen Thank God they are ok. What a terrifying ordeal. And Thank God for that truck and OnStar. 5y
LibrarianRyan Will need to be replaced as well as the drivers side defender. The hood was not damaged but the release mechanism was damaged so we can‘t see the damage behind the radiator. It may have damaged one of the water pumps. This truck is huge. I stand 5‘7.5” and the top of the headlights are at my chest. If they would have been in dads last truck it would have been worse. It sat a foot lower and based on the hit marks if they had been in the old 👇🏻 5y
LibrarianRyan Truck the dear would have her the hood and gone through the windshield. So there was some good in dads Xmas present. As I said they are okay. We were worried about dad because he has heart stunts and diabetes and stress can cause problems with both. He is actually taking it much better than we thought. It will be a month before he gets his baby back. He just doesn‘t know who will be fixing it yet. 5y
LibrarianRyan @Cinfhen yes. Very much so. 5y

Crazeedi Amazing that these vehicles can keep accidents from being much worse. Than God your parents are ok, I'll bet he's just distraught over it, being so new. I had a car one month and a deer jumped from a bank and slammed into me. Shattered windshield , but didn't break. It was a Cadillac eldorado, and it saved my life. It was a big 10 pt buck. So I know how your parents are feeling. I hope his truck is fixed good as new, what a shame 5y
