5 Ingredients - Quick & Easy Food
5 Ingredients - Quick & Easy Food | Jamie Oliver
7 posts | 7 read | 8 to read
Jamie's brand-new cookbook is HERE. Featuring simple, delicious recipes from the new CHANNEL 4 series - Quick and Easy Food - kicking off on Monday nights at eight o'clock, Jamie Oliver's 5 Ingredients is his most straightforward book yet. Using five ingredients, cleverly combined, you'll conjure up THE most exciting food . . . from this week's episode snappy sesame seared tuna with an Asian twist - blushing in the middle and slathered in savoury, salty Japanese miso paste, a golden layer of sesame seeds on fresh crunchy spring onions and sugar snap peas. Messy meatball buns - finger lickin' family food that's fast and loaded with flavour: super-soft buns filled with minced beef balls in green pesto, molten, melty buffalo mozzarella and juicy plum tomatoes. Jamie's naughty but nifty and irresistibly gooey, chocolate rye cookies - chunky dark chocolate, rye bread, free-range eggs and golden caster sugar for home baking at speed AND to finish, the ultimate comfort food classic, a hearty, crazy quick chicken pot pie - free-range chicken thighs, mixed mushrooms, sweet caramelised onions, fresh thyme and buttery puff pastry . . . Beautiful. ________ It's all about making the journey to good food, super-simple. Every recipe uses just five key ingredients, ensuring you can get a plate of food together fast, whether it's finished and on the table super-quickly, or after minimal hands-on prep, you've let the oven do the hard work for you. We're talking quality over quantity, a little diligence on the cooking front, and in return massive flavour. Each recipe has been tried and tested (and tested again!) to ensure the book is packed with no-fuss, budget-friendly dishes that you can rustle up, any day of the week. With over 130 recipes, and chapters on Chicken, Beef, Pork, Lamb, Fish, Eggs, Veg, Salads, Pasta, Rice and Noodles and Sweet Things, there's plenty of quick and easy recipe inspiration to choose from. How about . . . Pomegrante jewels, fresh mint and feta tossed into a Carrot and grain salad. Roast tikka chicken - whole chicken flavoured in tikka paste, roasted with crispy potatoes, golden cauliflower and coriander, finished with a deliciously sumptuous AND impressive Honey berry filo smash topped with coconut yoghurt and pistachios. All ready to tuck into in less than 30-minutes. With every recipe you'll find a visual ingredient guide, serving size, timings, a short, easy-to-follow method, and quick-reference nutritional information. Jamie's new cookbook takes the stress out of mealtimes and will inspire cooks and non-cooks alike with beautiful, crazily simple ideas . . .

I've watched a few episodes of the show of the same title and I love Jamie Oliver's personality and already knew a few of these recipes so I knew that these could be done and so having a cookbook that had a few more recipes was awesome for my wallet and myself.

Honestly some of the easiest recipes which not just makes them easy to replicate but also quick for those nights where I'm running late and have to make dinner.
Definitely recommend!

Checked this out from the library & although it has too many meat/poultry recipes for how I eat for me to purchase, it gets a pick & I have tagged several of the fish & veggie recipes to make. Quick, easy & just 5 ingredients like the Pappa Al Pomodoro Soup (tomato, bread, garlic, basil & Parmesan) which is delicious & on the blog for #soupersundays (link👇🏻) & complete comfort food. I know I‘ll be making more recipes before I return this one.👍

mabell We made the green pesto pasta - with kale and ricotta. It was good! I would probably swap the ricotta with goat cheese next time. I love the 5 ingredient idea. I didn‘t realize so many were meat dishes! 4y
DebinHawaii @mabell That sounds good! Especially with the goat cheese. It‘s not an excessive amount of meat & poultry dishes but I tend to limit my cookbook buying to ones that lean more heavily on vegetarian & vegan recipes. 4y

Beautiful, simplistic design & gorgeous photography. Accessible and probably the most practical and usable cookbook I‘ve come across in a while. Perfect for weeknight dinner inspiration. And pretty healthy too, with nutritional info for every recipe. Money well spent. 👍

9999 Oh good! I have been considering that one! 5y
Weaponxgirl That recipe looks great! 5y
JillR I know people have mixed feelings about Jamie Oliver but his books taught me to cook, and most meals I cook now years later are based in some way on his recipes 😋 (edited) 5y

#bookmail I‘m not supposed to buying any more cookbooks (the shelves are overflowing) but when you own every one of a certain cook, you have to get the new one when it‘s released, right?!
(Now to sneakily deposit it on the shelves without the hubby noticing!) 😂

readingjedi I love Jamie! He figures strongly on my cookbook shelf too. 5y
Lynnsoprano Oh, I‘m glad to know I‘m not the only person who sneaks cookbooks past her husby😂 5y

I love the simple, clean design of the book. It references the main ingredients with pictures on the left side of the page, and has a list of nutritional information at the bottom. But the flavours of those recipes were disappointingly bland with little to no recommendations for spicing it up. On top of that, too many of the main ingredients were difficult, if not impossible to find outside of a large city. Give this one a pass. #cookbooks

I love the concept of this book and how they chose to format the ingredient list. So simple and clean. I‘m hoping the recipes are tasty because I have high hopes for this one. they even went through the effort of giving me the nutritional info.

I love the premise and style of this book. Lovely clean and minimalist pages with easy to follow recipes and great photography. The pictorial ingredients list is a hit with the kids who have been helping to locate ingredients from around the kitchen. Every recipe has been a massive hit with the entire family. Recycled the pea, mint and potato mash with some lamb tonight. Clean plates all round.

MrBook Belatedly, welcome to Litsy! Hope you enjoy your stay with us. Great reviews! 😁 6y
