What a searing, gut punch of a memoir. I am shocked its GR rating is fairly low. I thought this was such a well written, contemplative look at the suicide of the author‘s sister at age 21. As a poet, Bialosky included a lot of poetry and literary excerpts that aided her in the examination of her sister‘s demise. The human condition is expertly navigated, to the point that we can all relate to this story.

Reviewsbylola @barbarabb and @Megabooks I saw you commented on a post of @kspenmoll‘s about this book. It‘s amazing. 3y
Megabooks Thanks for the heads up!! 👍🏻👍🏻 3y

Librariana Sounds very intriguing and as you described, quite an emotional gut punch, I'm certain. Will definitely stack it. Reminds me of another one I've heard of (which also deals with a sister's suicide) but haven't had a chance to read - 3y
Reviewsbylola Thanks for the rec! @Librariana 3y
Librariana @Reviewsbylola - I would take the recommendation with a grain of salt since I haven't read it 😊 I would imagine these are two very different perspectives of/approaches to the subject matter since Akana is a comedienne and YouTuber 🤷‍♀️ 3y

I‘ve always been curious about #bookspinbingo so I thought I‘d give it a whirl in December. I always struggle with what to read next so maybe this will help? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks for filling me in @Megabooks and @TheAromaofBooks !! #bookspin #doublebookspin

Megabooks Enjoy!! Usually you make a numbered list of 20-25 books first and wait to fill in your board until Sarah makes a new one December 2nd, but bookspin is very loose. I think that‘s why I‘ve enjoyed it so much! 3y
TheAromaofBooks Glad to have you along!! I'll post a bingo board on the 2nd with the numbers laid out & you can decide if you want to rearrange your board to match that one or stick with what you have!! 3y
Reviewsbylola I‘ll just watch and learn and roll with the punches. 🤪 @Megabooks @TheAromaofBooks 3y

Megabooks @Reviewsbylola the whole point is to make reading more fun so do you girl!! 💙💙 have a great thanksgiving! 3y
TheAromaofBooks No worries, I'm super chill about everything - the only goal is to help people read more, so it's however works best for you!! It does kind of make more sense when you see everything in action, though, so hopefully it will come together on the 2nd when I post everything. 😊 3y
Reviewsbylola Yeah, I‘m sure I‘ll get the hang of it once I see everyone in action! I‘ll see what happens on 12/2 and then I can decide if I want to go with this board or start from scratch! @Megabooks @TheAromaofBooks Either way, I‘m ready and excited! 3y

Finished in the car. This reads like a letter to her younger sister, Kim, as she explores her sister‘s “unfinished life”. She mines her sister‘s letters, poetry, & diaries, adds information from their family history, from her memories, from literature such as Melville, Plath, Woolf, & nonfiction of psychologists, psychiatrists. She creates a picture of her sister‘s inner life and suicide, her fragilities & strength. Beautifully written. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Reviewsbylola Thanks for putting this one on my radar. Stacked! 3y
Reviewsbylola I just finished this—I stacked it after reading your review. A five star for me too. I think it will stick with me for a long time. 3y

BarbaraBB So good? 4y
Megabooks What @BarbaraBB said?? 4y
kspenmoll @BarbaraBB @megbooks. I am only about a quarter way through. Her raw grief, disbelief, journey to understand her beloved sister‘s choice, the impact of such an irrevocable act (suicide) on all who knew her, her mix of prose, poetry& her sister‘s written words make this a compelling read for me. 4y
BarbaraBB I‘m sold. #stacked 💔 4y
