Dilithium. In crystalline form, the most valuable mineral in the galaxy. It powers the Federation's starships...and the Klingon&153; Empire's battlecruisers. Now on a small, out-of-the-way planet named Direidi, the greatest fortune in dilithium crystals ever seen has been found. Under the terms of the Organian Peace Treaty, the planet will go to the side best able to develop the planet and its resourses. Each side will contest the prize with the prime of its fleet. The_Penniless_Author Oh, that's one of the John Ford Star Trek books! I've heard people really love them. Now that I've finally read The Dragon Waiting I'm not surprised. He's an excellent writer. 3y

The_Penniless_Author Absolutely. I'm so glad they finally got permission to republish it. I had wanted to read it for a long time, but no way was I going to pay $100+ for a first-run copy. 3y

I wanted to bail. So badly. It started of great with a malfunctioning computer that seemed to have developed a personality of it's own. But instead of working with that, Ford just dropped this great idea to drag the reader into 200 pages of nonsense, based upon faults in his logic when it comes to the book's setting.
The worst Star Trek novel I ever read so far.

TheBookDream This one is weird as heck and I loved it. But mostly because of the 20's and 30's references. Def on my list of "How was that even published?!" Trek books ? 6y
