I struggled through the first book, and I made it 10% into this 2nd book. It‘s just too drawn out for me. I really like the authors ‘Found Things‘ series, which had a crossover with the ‘witch‘ from this series….but I just can‘t get into this one.

I really enjoyed this duology (although some of the characters pop up in other books). Brackston does a wonderful job of blending history and magic together in a way I really enjoy.

This was between a so-so and a pick for me. Overall I did like it though, so I‘m giving it 3 1/2 stars. I liked the overall story, although like the last book, it too dragged on a bit. But I‘m glad I read it.

I‘m struggling to get into this sequel, and I only thought the first book was okay, so I am bailing.

At least I can still cross it off #bookspinbingo. I really wanted to like this series, but it‘s just....bleh.

Since the GR Choice Award nominations are now out, pretty much anything that isn‘t a nominated book is going off my TBR for the next few weeks!

TheAromaofBooks Sounds like bailing was a solid decision!! 3y

Horrible book. I appear to be in the minority in this opinion.
Juvenile; what a 10 year olds version of a witch would be. Disjointed. Poor flow. Characters lack substance.
Words were used in ridiculous context to lend the the novel more depth....and failed miserably. All very contrived.
And if I read “betwixt” or “whilst” one more time I was going to burn the thing.

Just in love with this book but left with a few questions. Is Erasmus immortal? Or do they find a way to make Bess mortal again? Will they send the boy to time stepping school? What kind of love will Tegan find? Certainly no normal human. What about Florencia? Whom does she grow to be without her twin?

I was scrolling through facebook and saw this video of a tiny white mouse. Can you guess who I thought of immediately? Aloysius! Is it because I‘m reading the book maybe but I want him! This little guy has been through so much. Is it because he is made from magic that he is so resilient. When he died, did he actually die or did Tegan heal him before he passed? If he did die is he still the same mouse? The same tender soul?

Ahhh so many things happen and so fast!! Why must you torture me so why!! I am so torn and cross. Starting part 3 of the book and my heart is racing and aching! I don‘t want the book to end but I want to see what happens... just so full of emotional turmoil!!! And how I wish I had friends as dear and Elizabeth does. I hate how lonely my life looks outside the book can they be real people 😭😭😭

I bought the book today! I could not wait! And I realized to find this book it was not in the teen science fiction area!! I have moved up in the world of reading at the age of 24!!!! Anyway haha, I am so glad that weird diary date and tiny blurb thing is gone!! And was so delighted to see a glimpse in both Elizabeth‘s and Tegan‘s Head.

As mentioned in my previous post, I bought Return of The Witch by Paula Brackston and it was such a good sequel! I cannot rave about her books enough, I always read through them so quickly simply because I have to know what is going to happen!

Another purchase from Thriftbooks.com! One that I cannot wait to read, Paula Brackston has easily become one of my favorite authors. If you like the mystical/witchey kind of stories, I highly recommend! I have yet to be really and truly disappointed by a book of hers. Some may be slower to pick up than others but I still get captured and need to know what happens!

Not familiar with this book, but judging by the stack, I'm guessing it involves a circus? So many great books among and atop the shelves at FoxTale Book Shoppe in Atlanta (Woodstock, to be precise.) One of my favorite stores anywhere. #booktour #getindie

Been waiting for this book for so long! And to think I had no idea she was writing a sequal to The Witch's Daughter until I saw it on the New Books shelf at the library. 😃

3/4 of the way through and the love I had for The Witch's Daughter is back in full throw.

I know this isn't "high literature," and in truth, it probably doesn't deserve five stars. The plot did seem a bit repetitive at times, but for those of you who didn't read "The Witch's Daughter," that's probably a good thing. The writing was beautiful--especially for something considered "pop literature"--and I truly cared about what happened to the characters. In short, I loved it. I guess, for me, it was the right book at the right time.

This is the sequel to The Witch's Daughter. Excellent storytelling! Time stepping to save Tegan, Elizabeth encounters her arch nemesis Gideon, who has kidnapped Tegan. Elizabeth must stop him before she loses everything, and everyone, she loves.

This is supposedly a standalone, but I'm so glad I read The Witch's Daughter first! Enjoyed the beginning and end but the middle felt sluggish with expanding plot lines + dual POV's. Took for-e-ver to finish 😳 The audio narrator Marisa Calin is so perfect. Will continue series if more are written!
