Marching Band

First thing I love about Fall is marching band. My sister was in band for 3 yrs, then I joined and was in Color Guard during HS & college. Now, my closest college friend (we were both in color guard) has teens in band. One plays trumpet, the other is color guard. Their band is great, & I‘ll be at State next weekend cheering them on. They have a chance to win in their class. This is them last yr at finals (they were 2nd) #scarathlon @Clwojick

My son‘s band killed it today. Their show features Glen Miller‘s music & the following are their placings today at the McChesney Festival in Big Stone Gap, VA:
In their class...1st place color guard, 2nd place percussion, 1st place music, 1st place marching, 1st place general effects, 1st place in class.

Division rating...Superior

Overall...Soloist award for the Tenor Sax solo, Band of the day for class A & AA, Overall Grand Champion!!!!!!

Redjewel_7734 @Reggie I hadn‘t heard of DCI before. But they don‘t really have a drumline in their band-all their percussion is pit (not enough of percussionists are interested in marching). He isn‘t really showing interest in pursuing it in college; he‘s gravitating more towards the gaming world-half the time we have to fight with him to get him to practice (gotta love teenagers). I wish he would pursue it more 😊 7y

I am currently watching the Rose Bowl. I love football, but I also watch games and parades to see the marching bands. I am going to make a wild guess that many of my fellow Littens are former marching band members, just like me 😊 I played clarinet and was drum major my senior year in high school. I loved marching band! 🎼🥁🎷🎺❤️

LauraBrook I was a member of the Color Guard for two years! (Plus, I was in choirs and orchestras, wish I could've learned an instrument for band.) 7y

Bookquilter Never was in the marching band but I am a marching band mom to a mello player. His senior year season is over so no more marching band events except for fun... 7y

pppooraikul Years and years ago, in middle school. I played trumpet back then. I don't know if I could still play it now, though. 😂 But it was a good time. :) 7y

Melkyl @Bookquilter I was a marching band mom too. My son played sousaphone and my daughter clarinet. They have both graduated, so I go watch my former students march in the high school band in my district where I teach. 7y

ValerieAndBooks My youngest son is a clarinet in marching band ?. He's a sophomore. Last year they went to Florida and marched in the Orange Bowl and also Main Street at Disney World (his school does this trip every 4 years). He loves being a "band geek" ! 7y
