This is a high so-so almost a low pick because this is very much an ideas novel versus a character/plot one. The main conflict is conformity and the collective against the individual and ingenuity.

I liked this a lot. I think it was a brilliant post apocalyptic story with clones, and the best-written sci-fi I've read for a long while. I'm happy that I came across this book though the Lady Vaults Goodreads group.

Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang and Station Eleven are 2 of the most wanted on my vast Want to Read list. The former has been on my radar for many many years and the author, Kate Wilhelm, who just recently passed away, was an influential writer and mentor. The latter made a big splash a few years ago when it came out.

Similar to The Road, this is yet another book that is a solid example of the dystopian genre but doesn't do anything groundbreaking or new. The pacing is off with entire decades passing between the very short chapters. The beginning was awful, and I almost put it down. It gets much better once the world as we know it ends. I'm happy to have read this science fiction classic that was written by a woman but I can't highly recommend it.
