When her last two plays are dismal failures and her relationship with her temperamental mentor falls apart, writer Bree O'Brien abandons Chicago and the regional theater where she hoped to make a name for herself to return home. Opening Flowers on Main promises to bring her a new challenge and a new kind of fulfillment. But not all is peaceful and serene in Chesapeake Shores, with her estranged mother on the scene and her ex-lover on the warpath. Jake Collins has plenty of reasons to want Bree out of his life, but none of those are a match for the one reason he wants her to stay: he's still in love with her. Jake might be able to get past that old hurt if he knew Bree was home to stay, but is she? The only way to know for sure is to take a dangerous leap of faith.

Okay, so I actually did read several books while I was lounging about pretending like my insides weren't waiting to attack me. However, I was a smidge feverish during some of them, so it may have impacted my perspective 😂 At any rate, please excuse the upcoming small review binge.

This one is the 2nd book in the Chesapeake Shores series, focusing on another O'Brien sibling. Bree returns home from Chicago, unsure what she wants to do with her ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) life next and despite the fact that she actually writes plays for a living, decides that it would be a great idea to use her life savings to open a flower shop downtown!! Readers will be unsurprised to find out that the ONLY wholesaler within reasonable distance is (duh duh DUH) THE EX-BOYFRIEND SHE ABANDONED TO CHASE HER BIG-CITY DREAMS! What will happen next?!

Okay, so this was totally predictable but I still enjoyed it for 90% of ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) of time, especially because I wasn't feeling well and predictability = relaxing for me. However, I did feel like Jake needed to get over himself. After a while I got really tired of listening to how Bree had betrayed him and he's sooo scared that his heart is going to get broken again blah blah blah like dude, MAN UP. I honestly would not have been as persistent as Bree; I think I would have moved on with my life after like round 10 of ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) of getting blown off. The ending drama lasted way too long and then just suddenly disappeared, and I honestly was left not actually believing that Jake was genuinely ready to move on, because we just spend like 350 pages of him refusing to believe anything Bree says... and then in the last chapter he's just like, “Oh my gosh! You're right! I believe that you're really staying! Yay!“ and I wasn't sure I was actually buying it.

So, a fine⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) if completely predictable romance, but I like my men a little less self-absorbed than Jake.

LitStephanie Wait, why was this a pick? 🤣 2y
TheAromaofBooks @LitStephanie - I've discovered that I disproportionately complain about books that I actually had a perfectly fine time reading 😂 😂 😂 2y
Roary47 🤣 I love all the hate/love you had for this one. 😊💛 2y

I know some people would find Jake and Bree hard to read about but I enjoyed it knowing Im incredibly stubborn. This was very much a usual Sherryl Woods' book.

I really enjoyed the story of Bree and Jake, much more than Abby and Trace tbh. And the story between Mick and Megan has started to get interesting. I‘m looking forward to reading the next book about the O‘Brien family. Next up, Kevin‘s story...

Bree O‘Brien returns home to Chesapeake Shores after her career as a playwright in Chicago falls apart. The problem is that her former boyfriend Jake Collins, is still in town and after she left him for Chicago he wants nothing to do with her. However, they can‘t put their attraction aside for long and they find their way back to each other. I adore small town romances and family dramas. #romantsy

#riotgrams Day 28 - #FloralCover

This is not a book I would have picked for myself. It came into my life by accident. I found it beside my car in a parking lot one day and figured that was a sign that it needed to come home with me and be read.

Have you ever had a book come into your life in an unexpected way?

Enjoyable book though I felt one of the main characters could have gotten to their turning point sooner.
