Pirate's Wish
Pirate's Wish | Cassandra Rose Clarke
17 posts | 27 read | 6 to read
After setting out to break the curse that binds them together, the pirate Ananna and the assassin Naji find themselves stranded on an enchanted island in the north with nothing but a sword, their wits, and the secret to breaking the curse: complete three impossible tasks. With the help of their friend Marjani and a rather"unusual"ally, Ananna and Naji make their way south again, seeking what seems to be beyond their reach. Unfortunately, Naji has enemies from the shadowy world known as the Mists, and Ananna must still face the repercussions of going up against the Pirate Confederation. Together, Naji and Ananna must break the curse, escape their enemies and come to terms with their growing romantic attraction."

This was still fun but Ananna really seemed like an idiot at some points. Not the points when other characters were treating her like an idiot… they were just being jerks. But she was missing obvious things. A lot of interesting things popped up in the world never to be seen again… so it was an interesting world, but not cohesive. It was an OK resolution to the curse and the romance. I really liked the manticore!

At first I didnt like this sequel, but about halfway through the pace changed and the storyline actually started making sense. I really enjoyed the world and the different characters we meet, even if they are a bit odd. I did find the main character a bit annoying as she was so indecisive when it came to the romance, but it ended in a satisfying way, even if it was a bit anti climatic. I did enjoy the book in general, not as much as the first...

I can't share this on Instagram, because it's a gift for someone on there. So have a Pirate Owl I finished in a day and am unreasonably proud of. #happyMegan #apirateslifeforme

So this one was a tad better...I cant not finish a series even if I strongly disliked book 1 :(

The heroine gets even better in the sequel. Exotic creatures keep the excitement level high. But I started to detest the hero. Other characters do too, and suggest she move on. The hero eventually comes around and they get an HEA, but by that time I didn‘t like it or believe it.

A new review is up on the blog! For a book I actually read a few months ago. I can‘t believe I got ahead in reviews (it won‘t last long)

The Pirate‘s Wish is the second book in a fantasy duopoly that contains assassin‘s, pirates, magic, and mystical creatures! I had some issues with it but overall it was quite a fun read 😁

I read this book years ago and when I finished it, I was really wishing it was part of a trilogy. (and I am not a big fan of trilogy's.) I just never wanted the adventures to end! I really hope some where down the line Cassandra Rose Clarke does another book with these characters. :)

I thought I could get past the Stockholm bullshit but I couldn't. There are too many good books in the world to stick it out for an ending I can see coming from a hundred miles away AND that makes me grind my teeth. I'm sure the author thinks she wrote a strong female character (whatever THAT means) and maybe she could have been if she hadn't allowed a man WHO TRIED TO KILL HER to completely take over her life and keep her in a shed for "safety."
