Not perfect but it broke me out of a almost three month reading slump. Short and fairly fast paced, I wanted more to the mystery but it held my interest.

This was between a pick and a so-so for me. There was nothing wrong with the book per se. It had good intrigue that kept me reading (though I already had a bit of an interest in reading tea leaves) and the MC was fine. It was a nice easy read. Maybe I just wanted more from it. But as it was, it was enjoyable.

@IheartYA I got your package! Thanks so much! The book sounds interesting - I've always thought divination stuff like reading tea leaves was neat. And that has to be the most fun mailing envelope I've seen!

Enjoyable and unique. I thought it could have been great if it were more complex and detailed. Overall, an easy read that I liked and finished in 2 days.

I'm taking a break from the Astonishing Color of After. It wasn't holding my attention and the page length was daunting. The metaphor and assimile overload was becoming asinine.
On page 30 of the Leaf Reader and I like it (better) so far.

I just finished this tonight- from LitCrateJoys June book and it's a well-done YA thriller. The plot is tightly woven and everything and everyone has a reason in the story. Some genuinely surprised me, and the added part about Marnie and her family having a psychic gift was interesting! I can easily see this being adapted for tv/movie. My thing though is that while narrated from Marnies pov I never really felt like I knew her very well tbh.

This was a very quick read. Overall I enjoyed it, however I did not feel that all aspects of the story were fully developed. I prefer Arsenault's adult novels.

It took me a little while to get into this book, but it did eventually pick up. There were elements I was not expecting at all thrown in toward the end as well. But the characters were pretty flat.

I really enjoyed reading about Leaf reading and a bit about how it's done and the interpretation of the symbols in this novel. I loved the protagonist, even though I thought the other characters were a bit flat. It's a quick read for anyone j to divination! I really wish it had been longer! I would have loved to read more

I've been a fan of the author for years now and her first foray into #YoungAdult is truly excellent!! An exciting read of missing teens and answers found in tea leaves! For #JubilantJuly this one opens up #AWholeNewWorld of tasseomancy! And my Chip cup is the closest I had to Aladdin! @RealLifeReading

I am not the intended demographic for this 'teen' tale. Pacing and dialog were good, but the prominence of teen issues and the relative weakness (incompleteness) of the core mystery prevents me from giving it a top rating.

I could not write any kind of review without talking up the production of the physical book. The accompanying illumination, the typography, the feel of the binding are all extraordinary. Only the paper wasn't top hole.

Another YA book that I feel the cover is too adult. It at the same time I like it. It took me a while to realize it's a broken cup. #coverlove.

#netgalley read! Slow start but surprisingly quick middle and ending once the story is set up. I feel like Marnie's friendships with other female characters could have been more fully developed, and it felt like there was more to the story of her mother than the book gives. It did surprise me with a couple of twists. Enjoyable story!
