Spring has finally arrived in Alaska! I saw my first spring flowers of the season--Daffodils--and they made me instantly happy. The trees are leafing, and the first moose calves of the year are being born. ❤ #WhatsNewWednesday @AlwaysBeenaLoverofBooks @Read4Life @tiedyedude
1. I've enjoyed libraries my entire life. I loved library hour in elementary school and summer reading at the public library. I currently work at a library, and have done so since 2012.
2. The library and local independent bookstore.
3. I'm still reading Black Sheep. I haven't felt well enough to dedicate regular time to reading.
@Eggs #WondrousMonday
1. Charcuterie with meats, cheeses, crusty bread, red grapes, and apples. Served with a bottle of my favorite red wine, of course! 🧀🍖🍞🍇🍏 🍷
2. The Electricity of Every Living Thing by Katherine May would be a good choice. I would also take Weyward by Emilia Hart.
Thanks for the tag, @TheSpineView! This was fun! #Two4Tuesday
Wish to play, @tiedyedude?
I made this flyer for a mystery book display at our library in honor of National Egg Month & thought it would be fun to repurpose for a fun Litsy Challenge. Everyone is invited to play:
1. Tag a favorite mystery you've read
2. What is your favorite way to prepare eggs?
I'll start:
1. I really enjoyed Stephen King's Dolores Claiborne
2. I love eggs in all ways. But I think my favorite is over-easy/soft boiled on toast.
#NationalEggMonthChallenge

It's really neat to see the innovative ways Japan is striving to keep bookstores relevant in this digital era. Perhaps there are some strategies here we can lean into! https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture/2024/04/22/books/bookshops-economy-japan-ji...

Oh, hello, it's me, your Saturday librarian! While I'm at work, I hope you all are at home reading. Or at a coffee shop, reading. Or enjoying a spring day in the park, reading. Or at the pub, reading. You get my drift! Send me your reference questions through 6:00PM Alaska DST today. :-) Silly reference questions and your run-of-the-mill reference questions are all welcome. #SaturdayLibrarian

Did you know that the word “wonder“ is thought to be a cognate with the German word, “wunde,“ or “wound“?
I just learned that while reading this collection of poems by Maya C. Popa.

Not new to me, but it may be new to you: Wombats poop square poops! The wombat is one of my favorite animals. Here is some more (new) info for you: Wombats have an extra bony plate on their butts that they can use to crush & kill predators by slamming it up against the predator's neck/head as they're pursuing the wombat into its hole. Yes, wombats live in underground burrows. 😊 #whatsnewwednesday @alwasybeenaloverofbooks @read4life @tiedyedude

It's been awhile since I've sat down to a leisurely read at a coffee shop. Enjoying a honey vanilla latte from Kaladi Brothers while reading this cute YA graphic novel. 😊 (Oh, and the ceiling here is pretty neat!)

I know the Little House books are controversial today but as a child in the 80's I really enjoyed reading them. I've read every one of them, and I know I read at least some of them multiple times. Otherwise, I can't say I've ever re-read any books. There's so much to read, I like to pick up new-to-me books! #TLT #ThreeListThursday @dabbe

I just came across a starred review on Kirkus Reviews for this book and can't wait to read it! I love learning about indigenous cultures home and abroad, and reading fiction written by Indigenous authors. This book received a Printz Honor Book award for excellence in young adult literature. https://www.levinequerido.com/fire-from-the-sky #LGBT #LGBTQ #Sweden #Sami #IndigenousPeoples #ComingofAge #FirstLove #YoungAdultLiterature #YALiterature

Atmospheric, allergorical, nightmarish, like a fever dream. I kept seeing Silent Hill in my mind, minus the zombie-type creatures. Even for the horror lover that I am, this book horrified me. It was so incredibly well-written, and I could envision every scene, every detail, every person. I could hear the character's voices and envision their terror. 5 stars from me.
*Image is from the movie Silent Hill, which I kept seeing in my mind.*
1. No plans for Easter. We don't celebrate.
2. None so far!
3. I LOVED the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books. And I LOVED the Amelia Bedelia books too!
#MotivationalMonday @Cupcake
I love author Katherine May and everything she writes. This book is a great read for any time of year, but I think it's especially appropriate for spring, with its messages of renewal and restoration and its focus on the elements of earth, fire, and air, and identifying the quiet traces of magic that can be found only when we look for them. #nature #memoir #nonfiction #selfhelp #FridayNightShare #Naturalitsy #Litsolace #SpringEquinox
“That is one good thing about this world...there are always sure to be more springs.” I love Anne of Green Gables! #FridayNightShare #Naturalitsy #Litsolace #SpringEquinox
