pickFinal review of the day (it‘s been like a marathon today 😆)! This was a fun whodunit with the added element of a podcast to really twist up your brain and make you doubt what you think happened. I actually loved the main character Lucy and couldn‘t help but hope she wasn‘t the murderer everyone seemed to think she was. The dialogue was great and the story really flowed well, especially given the short chapters. Definitely recommend! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
pickI really enjoyed this crime novel about a woman searching for answers after she is suspected of killing her friend. The set-up is that Ben is doing a podcast about her case, and I loved how the author created an odd couple vibe. Lucy is a sarcastic, witty but ultimately sympathetic character & her family wonderfully dysfunctional. I half guessed it but there were plenty of twists & turns making for a satisfying read.

pickThis was a good, fast paced whodunit. I didn't have any idea who the murder was until the end. It's pretty gritty though and addresses abuse so - not for everyone.

pickFollowing real life cult cases turns my stomach inside out, so I just don‘t go there. But boy, I have fun reading a fictional cold cases - especially when the narrator hears voices in her head! Even though I figured out the guilty party pretty early it was still a good yarn.

pickThis was my April 2024 BOTM pick. I enjoyed this thriller/ mystery about the unsolved murder of Savvy, a young woman who was discovered bludgeoned to death. Everyone suspected her best friend, Lucy, of killing her but there wasn‘t enough proof. Now, years later a true crime podcaster is reopening the case. I liked the podcast form which made for short fast chapters. I gave it 4 stars. #BOTM. #CurrentlyReading. #ListenForTheLie.

She returns home for her grandmother's birthday and everything from the night she can't remember begins to resurface as her case is dissected by a well known crime podcast. This book was fantastic with a mix of humor, mystery, romance, paranormal and a great plot twist!
pickAn overall solid podcast themed thriller with an unreliable narrator. One to best to go in not knowing too much. Not perfect, but for a first book a good time. I also recommend to read this one on audiobook. 4⭐️
pickLucy is dragged back to her hometown by her (awesome and hilarious) grandma for a birthday celebration and gets pulled into a podcast about her best friend‘s murder. Only most of the town thinks Lucy did it, so things are pretty awkward. I had a lot of fun with this book and especially enjoyed the humor in it, which I wasn‘t expecting.

so-soI guess I just don't get it. Honestly, I thought Lucy was a brat and Podcaster Ben was a tool. Whilst I like reading the podcast portions the rest of the book just didn't work for me. I'm a character driven reader meaning its all about the charactersfor me. And these characters were meh and almost unlikable. I really don't get the hype...but hey that's just my opinion. #bookspin @thearomaofbooks
so-soSlight unpopular opinion here, but this story didn‘t work for me. Lucy & her inner “voice” annoyed me & made it hard to like her (even as an unreliable, possibly guilty suspect or victim). I also did not like her & podcaster Ben‘s relationship w/ each other. I didn‘t understand their dynamic & also made me not like him b/c of some decisions he made.
I‘ve struggled w/ each podcast related mystery I‘ve read making me think they‘re not for me.

so-soHere‘s what I liked: the podcast element, the grandma character, the snark, writing was good. I wanted to pick this up and continue reading, so that says something. But ultimately, it kind of felt like another thriller/suspense novel in a saturated market. An enjoyable read but not one that will stick with me.
Finished my first book of April. Now that I'm all healed up from the bronchitis bout, I hope to dig back into my TBR!

An entertaining whodunit. It's told partly through Lucy's point of view and through podcast transcripts. A woman must deal with a TBI as she tries to find who killed her friend while almost the whole town believes she did it. 4 stars.

pickThis mystery/thriller revolves around a podcast, which is a trope that I love. Lucy Chase, the subject of the podcast may or may not have murdered her best friend. The problem is that she can‘t remember any of the circumstances surrounding her friend‘s death. She is a totally unreliable and dysfunctional narrator and I love her. This book is so well written and just grabs you from the get go. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was probably the most aggravating book I've read in like forever. It was interesting but a bit on the dramatic side and repetitive in many places. It's hard for me to say exactly how I feel about this one. It was ok and the thing that saved it for me was the ending. I loved the last two chapters of this book so much. I also still think Lucy was guilty.... Maybe.

I'm currently reading around five books, but this is the most active one. Lucy was found walking while having her friend Savvy's blood all over her dress. She claims she doesn't remember how it got there. Part first-person narration and part podcast transcripts, there is also a vein of dark comedy so far.

I loved Lucy‘s sarcasm and humor. Loved trying to figure it out as you read the podcast interviews and Lucy trying to remember something. Anything.
pickThis was a fun, quirky, fast-paced read! The narrative of the main character was phenomenal, and she throws in some darkness that makes it even better.

I listened to the audiobook, which is a plus. Segments are set up like a podcast.

This book has an addictive quality, and because of the podcast element, really shines in the audio format! For a twisty murder mystery, I was surprised to also find myself chuckling throughout the book. I think it‘s a solid, fun, standout read for fans of this genre. 🎧
pickI don't really like mystery/thriller plots based on amnesia but it wasn't so bad in this book. I really liked the main character and her dark, sarcastic sense of humor. I liked that she was sharp, strong, and straightforward, but somehow also unreliable, and in spite of her amnesia, she was not portrayed as being vague and confused.
pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This is how you mix a thriller with podcasting! Listen for the Lie was really enjoyable and kept you guessing, despite the amnesia trope. I was disappointed with None of this is True and shocked it was a BOTM BOTY nominee. This book had everything that book didn‘t. I‘ll actually remember this one too. I don‘t think it will blend into the black hole of commonly read thrillers. I recommend!

I'm new-ish to mysteries/thrillers, so I didn't suspect until the big reveal.

pickI really, really liked this thriller. I'm a fan of some pretty dark thriller books, but the dry wit in this novel had me laughing out loud. Lucy has lived most of her adult life wondering if she killed her best friend Savvy. After Lucy moves on and leaves her hometown in the rearview mirror until a true crime podcaster comes behind to investigate Savvy's death. Very cool book. Loved the dialogue! 🌟🌟🌟🌟✨

pick5⭐This author usually writes YA books…but she has ventured into the adult world of mystery thrillers and she…freaking nailed it. She delivered one of the best unreliable narrators I‘ve ever read before. Lucy, our heroine, was a snark-lovers delight…at first, I wasn‘t sure about her, like maybe she was a little off…but the more I got to know her and her story, the more I loved her. There‘s a reason everyone is loving this and I highly recommend it.
pickThis is a must-read for all murder mystery lovers! I devoured this in a sitting. It was the most clever mystery I've read in a long time. I had picked it up when I was intrigued that Stephen King, Liane Moriarty, and Alex Michaelides all praised it with blurbs. I think this author has found her niche, and I hope to read more of her mysteries in the future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I grabbed this one on audio and so far, I'm really loving it! It's funny, witty, and smart. I love the unlikable main character and her family! Basically, Lucy's best friend Savvy (short for Savannah), was murdered and Lucy was found the next morning wandering around covered in Savvy's blood. Lucy has no memory of what happened that night and now cute podcaster is trying to solve the case. The characters are interesting and funny and I'm in it now

pickThis was one of the best mysteries I have read in a long while. It had wonderful characters...the grandmother was the best since Evanovich's Stephanie Plum's. The humour gave the story a lighter feel and I had trouble putting it down to go to sleep. There was also a bit of romance, a compelling mystery and a easy to follow plot. Thanks to Edelweiss+ for the digital ARC. I look forward to more adult novels from this author. 5/5 stars!
