reading a copy of a friend's book and stumbling through highlighted sentences is nice. guessing why those words appealed to them and being reminded of their presence in this rlly soft way. this gentle invitation into their purest thoughts.

Pickpick

Biked to a lake and found this cute, secluded area. Started & finished the entire book. The pictures helped ?. It's engaging and factual. It assumes no prior knowledge of the field, so the first couple of pages might be annoying to some. It touches the surface of many topics, and dives into them just deeply enough for us non-experts. Its heteronormativity should've at least been acknowledged though, instead of portrayed as the "default".

Finally put "The Luminaries" back in this shelf. That was a ride! Looking for a fortune in the New Zealand's shores rife with gold, the destinies of people from all over the world intertwine. Mysterious events in the town of Hokitika bring 12 men together. 800 pages of a river of a book, alternating between covering the intersection of a myriad of stories smoothly, rapidly, engulfing the reader with language, a charming cast, and timely suspense.

The cast is diverse, the dialogue is amazing, the scenes are fast-paced and I'm a bit too excited by the grisha trilogy references.

if this group of teens in ww2 can find humour and be easygoing in a time of desperation, i can muster the nerve to go to my first poetry slam.

petition to ban textbooks and only teach history through historical fiction novels. key words: ww2, hitler youth, tearjerker, The Book Thief, All The Light We Cannot See, Salt To The Sea, etc...

1920s America, authentic character development, and historically accurate, strong imagery. Need to find an adjective for the existentialist feeling the book has which is neither a positive outlook on life or negative or hopeful. Something between carpe diem and being true to yourself. The book is fact-paced and somewhere between escapism and introspection. Had to write a fanfiction for this one. Read here: www.initialsandaheartbeat.tumblr.com

Pickpick

Each installment packs more vigor, twists, and emotions. The series is my (slightly problematic) fav. Incredibly well-written and most chapters had scenes that left me gasping, clapping or both. Downside:the author portrays "female friendships" as either perfect or full of emotional manipulation. Hope that Lysandra proves me wrong. Also, Arobynn seems to have been overrated for events to have played out this way. But the bank scheme was amazing.
