Actual Size | Steve Jenkins
post image

This NF book is a great read aloud for students! It tells all of the actual sizes of actual animals and provides great ways for you to include math and other subjects while reading! https://m.brighthubeducation.com/lesson-plans-grades-1-2/128829-2nd-grade-measur... #UCFLAE3414su17

DrSpalding Other subjects being SCIENCE, SS and Literacy! Add this to your classroom library! 7y
SamanthaPuglisi I love this book! So fun to use it in a math lesson 😊 7y
Diana_S I can see the kids enjoying this book! It looks fun and is great for teaching science. 7y
gracemccleskey I love this book every time I read it, and the girl I tutor was absolutely floored when I brought it to her. She is 17 and reading harder books too, but with severe autism she struggles to understand some everyday concepts and things and this book was so fun for her to see the actual size of real creatures. 7y
DrSpalding @gracemccleskey what a lovely post! 7y

This classic P book contains forty-five poems that only occasionally veer toward the infantile vocabulary characteristic of children‘s poems in the early 1920‘s. It was an immediate best seller and a great quick read!

DrSpalding Interesting resource to complement this classic anthology. I agree with reading the poem daily! This aids fluency and lays a literacy foundation for young children. 7y

Unwind | Neal Shusterman
post image

This SF book is a great literature circle book for fifth graders! Neal Shusterman puts you and your students into a science fiction world where children at the age of 13-18 can be chosen to retroactively get rid of a child through a process called "unwinding". Also a great book for students to read throughout the school year! http://www.nlc.state.ne.us/Youth/OBOK/2010/Activities.pdf #UCFLAE3414su17

DrSpalding After looking at your resource, I think this book is more appropriate for middle to high school students. However, this kind of SF is very popular. 7y

This HF book is about three girls who take a trip during the summer to their mothers house who has not really been a true mother to them. They have to face some hard trials while being at her house as her mother is a black panther. This is a award winning book that would be great for literature circles! https://www.teachingbooks.net/tb.cgi?a=1&tid=17070 #UCFLAE3414su17

DrSpalding So glad you read this HF title. Powerful events are shared in our history while sharing the trials and tribulations of these three young girls. 🐬 7y
