Oh, the Palaces you'll go, by Dr. Seuss, a great P story. About today is the day, you're off to a great place. A story you can read the last day of class, before your students leave you, getting them ready for the next school year and the adventure that they will be going on. http://edu.glogster.com/glog/seuss-landing-glog/2u3pjc9eoo3 #UCFLAE3414su17

Written in a poetic way, the novel is RF. A story about two twin brothers who have the same love for basketball, but one of the twins gets a girlfriend. What might happen to them? Everyone should read this book! #UCFLAE3414su17https://http://poetryforchildren.blogspot.com/2014/08/guide-crossover-by-kwame-alexander.html?m=1

What better author and illustrator than James Marshall, who won the Caldecott Honor Medal for his art work. A TL story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. #UCFLAE3414su17 http://edu.glogster.com/glog/james-marshall/2gu1x67hsaf

DrSpalding You cited your glog and shared your pup too! Awesome! 7y

A true HF story about segregation. An "all black" school didn't have the same resources that a "white" school had, so the family of the Carters, sent there children to an "all-white" school. The children were bullied, but didn't back down. An amazing story about courage and honor within the family, for a better education. #UCFLAE3414su17 http://www.state.lib.la.us/empowerlibrary/SCHOOL%20IS%20NOT%20WHITE.pdf

DrSpalding I haven't seen this one. I am adding it to my stack! Well done! 7y

A SF book about a little boys friend from outer space coming to visit Earth for Christmas, just like he did on Halloween. Instead of visiting his house, the space-case has to go to Granny's house which makes Buddy scared, thinking his friend will miss Christmas. http://teacher.scholastic.com/products/westonwoods/study_guides/merry_christmas_... #UCFLAE3414su17

DrSpalding Scholastic is a wonderful resource! Kids enjoy this story. It was in my classroom library! 7y

Can I Eat That? | Joshua David Stein

With over 40 illustrations, what better than an NF story about appetite. The book is informative about what foods you can and can't eat, for example you can't eat a tornado but you can eat tonnato, which is a sauce from Italy. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pinterest.com/amp/pin/25895766579572757/ #UCFLAE3414su17

Who Was Dr. Seuss? | Janet Pascal

A story about the great Dr. Seuss, with black and white illustrations brings an author to life with a great B. A story about Dr. Seuss in school to when he was older and worked for a book company. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B32u4qrIVZQ #UCFLAE3414su17

Diana_S Sometimes we forget about the author of the books we read. This seems interesting and enlightening to the life of doctor suess, I realize i know so little about him. 7y
Chanelamber Awesome! I actually love the link that you attached because "Green Eggs and Ham" is my favorite Seuss book! 7y
DrSpalding Use this while you perform a Seuss author study in your class and while you are at it, cook green eggs and ham! The students love it! 7y

I am Rosa Parks | Brad Meltzer
post image

A great B story about what better American than Rosa Parks, allowing students to understand how she dared to stand up for herself and other African Americans by not getting up from her seat on the bus. Which than helped end public bus segregation. This author has also created a series of another important American's which students should learn about.#UCFLAE3414SU17https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pinterest.com/amp/pin/100486635409981648/

Wonder | R. J. Palacio
post image

What a great "Rf" book written by R.J. Palacio, a book students can learn a valuable lesson from. Not only does August (the main character) have the jitters of entering a public school but also facing a facial deformity, ends up achieving so much more than expected. The author goes back and fourth from characters perspectives allowing you to visualize the story even better. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ngiK1gQKgK8 #UCFLAE3414su17

DrSpalding I have such high hopes for this movie. Great idea to add the trailer. "You can't blend in when you were born to stand out." I like that you mentioned the many storytellers in this book. I too believe it adds valuable perspectives. 7y
Jerricajay After hearing all the positive reactions from our LCs in class, I can't wait to get my hands on this book. Love the message it's sending and I can't wait to see the movie! 7y
