So, I‘m walking around the philosophy section of Powell‘s in Portland. I see this beautiful cover and grab it from the shelf. I was meant to read this book. There is a lot of references to “God,” however, I chose to interpret God as “the universe.” This book helped me realize just how much my thinking can attract glorious opportunities in life. 10/10 would definitely read if you are struggling with your purpose or financial situation.

I absolutely love dystopian future novels. This one, however, did not blow me away. I think it was the elementary writing style (hey, I know it‘s YA). I loved the beginning of the book. I love the character development of Rowan. In the end, I felt disappointed and did not feel the urge to go out and buy the second book in the series. Would recommend if you are new to dystopian future novels. I just kept wanting more and this didn‘t deliver.

I am a marriage and family therapist and this is a definite recommendation for anyone who is married (or even thinking about marriage). I‘m 1/4 of the way through. Gottman can tell with over 90% accuracy if a couple will get divorced (based on scientific research, of course).

So, basically this is an erotica novel. It‘s about a man who has the power to stop time. Use your imagination to determine what sorts of *ahem* curious things the main character gets himself into. Extremely sexual and graphic the entire way through. If you are easily offended, definitely not the book for you...

I absolutely adore this author and her no BS writing style. I often think about writing and get terrorized by the “bully” in my head to write with perfection. Lafferty invites you to get rid of the “perfection” demon and essentially “do you.” Recommended for writers of any level (even a newbie).

I really enjoyed the beginning and the end of this medical thriller. The middle, well, it was so-so. It started off with the intensity of a dangerous situation (complete with toxic jellyfish). I found the middle of the story to be a bit dull for my taste (too much medical jargon and slimy big-pharma deals for my taste). The ending helped redeem the book 📚. Recommended if you are studying medicine or enjoy Greys Anatomy.

You‘ll get the jellyfish reference if you check out this book. Great medical thriller...almost finished.

I love Grey‘s Anatomy and Shonda Rhimes‘ dark and twisty style of storytelling. However, I did not feel blown away by this book. The title is misleading to me. I was surprised that this book is actually an autobiography and not a self-help/motivational read.

I love that Shonda prioritizes family over work. I do the same and I have felt extremely guilty. I'm working on it! I hope you can choose your love ❤️ (maybe your love is work) and go forward while being kind to yourself.

So, let talk about how delightfully twisted and creepy this story is...first off, the most terrifying parts of this book are right out of your worst childhood nightmares: a “Boogey Man-like” character called “The Crooked Man” is definitely hiding under your bed (and the scariest part of this fantasy thriller). Also, super vivid and gory details of death 💀 and destruction of magical creatures including the Werewolves called the Loup. Excellent!

OMG you guys. This book is so creepy. You know that feeling when someone is staring at you and you just have to turn around and see who it is? That is the vibe you‘ll have when reading this fairytale for adults.

This book was hypnotic! Liane Moriarty is excellent (if you haven‘t checked it out yet, read Big Little Lies). I loved the two perspectives the story was written from. It is a romance book, but it is also a psychological thriller. I finished this book in just about 3 days (its cliche, but I could not put it down). Highly recommend - 10/10

I did not know before I began to read this mystery thriller that it is one of many in a series. I liked the dark, somewhat gory style of writing. There was some comic relief and romance. The author is famous in Denmark and the book was translated in many different languages. Overall, it was a good beach read.

#1 I really want this bookshelf. #2 I am currently stuck at work fantasizing about all the books I‘d read and stack onto said bookshelf. That is all...

“she was the kind of person willing to give up sex if it meant also giving up the pressure of having to be something for someone else.” - This is my favorite quote of the book thus far. Really enjoying this summer crime thriller for my book club.

Just finished up with this Sci-Fi thriller. Very graphic and realistic. The technology springing to life was chilling. Maybe because it‘s so realistic and parallels current tech including self-driving cars...goosebumps.
