Litsy has not been working well for the last week, and didn't work until this morning and then stopped working. It would not let me put a picture.
This P book is written by a classic poetry writter. This book is filled with great poems to RA to your class. It's great to read one a day and to teach new words. http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/abcs-poetry-988.h...

GGallegos UDL principle 2.1 as we go over words. ESOL strategy 13 as I read them out loud to the class. #UCFLAE3414SuB18 6y

This RF book is a classic to me. This is a Caldecott winner and just a funny book. The book Madeline is about a girl named Madeline who lives in Paris with no fear and is always matching. One day she gets really sick and need surgery. The 12 other girls then want to do the same and have a scar like her. This would be a great LC book. This link is all about building comprehension:

GGallegos http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/picture-understan... UDL principle 3.1 linking it to knowing someone or havin surgery themself. ESOL strategy 22 to wait and see their comprehension level. #UCFLAE3414SuB18 6y

This HF is a Newbery winner (not shown), and a personal favorite of mine growing up. The theme of this book is friendship. Katana with her 2 siblings are living on an island when Russian hunters come to kill the otters. This book shows their trials and adventures during the hunter invasion. This is a great IR. This link is a specific lesson for this book:

This RF is a Caldecott winner, and very worthy of it. The theme of this book is understanding. In the book Trixie forgets her by my at the laundry mat and tried to tell her dad. The problem is Trixie can't talk yet so her dad has to drag her back home. When they arrive home the mom figures out knuffle bunny is missing. This would be a great RA or OR for students to ready to each other.

GGallegos http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/have-journal-will... This link helps you to promote reading at home with the family and this would be a great book for it! UDL principle 3.1 as this book is very relatable to students depending on the community. ESOL strategy 4 as this book would link to the real world. #UCFLAE3414SuB18 6y

This P book is filled with silly poems from jelly fish stew to let alligators. This book is filled with poems that students can memorize and perform. Poems help students who struggle with reading to feel more confident and help with there phonics skills. This book would be great to use in April as shown by this link: http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/calendar-activities/april-nati...

GGallegos This would be best used as RA or even DR depending on the poem. UDL principle 8.4 as we would master the poems when we present them in front of the class. ESOL 16 as we would speak our poems, listen to others present their poems, read poems, and write our own 6y
DrSpalding I agree this poetry anthology could be used in many ways. EL 16 is perfect. 6y

This SF book is a classic. The theme of this book is about relationships. The two brothers are classic brothers as the older one makes fun of the younger one and the younger just wants to play. They go on a crazy adventure (which includes non gravity and I tried to make my picture reflect that). In the end they end up not fighting and playing catch. This would be a great PR. The lesson plan I have is meant for 6-8, but could be modified:

GGallegos http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/finding-science-b... UDL principle 7.1 as this book offers a different variety of books. ESOL strategy 6 as I would check to see that they understand the story. #UCFLAE3414SuB18 6y

This NF text is a great book to introduce your students into understanding how to read NF texts. The theme of this book is, as the title states, off road racing. The link is a lesson for taking notes from NF texts:

This F book is a great book to encourage students to read and pract8ce good reading habits. The theme of this book is reading. Reading in red, blue, and pickle color too! The Cat in the Hat shows the little cat how to read and tells him of all the things he can read. This would be a great RA or SR. This link would be great to use for students to compare reading with their eyes open vs closed:

This F book is a great little story to use in your classroom. The theme of this
book is teamwork. The littlest bunny of the bunny family can not go to sleep because she does not have her blanket. The family all goes on a hunt for Flora's blanket. This is best used as an SR with its large text and content.

GGallegos This activity is great for : http://www.readwritethink.org/professional-development/strategy-guides/shared-re...
UDL principle 8.3 is naturally in a SR as we collectively read, buidling up our community. ESOL strategy 14 would be used as we would go at a slower pace as we read together. #UCFLAE3414SuB18

DianaHerrera I love the idea of having students read the book over and over because it does help build the students fluency. As we read one of the articles in class, having students reread the same passage/story over and over can improve their fluency. So I will definitely save this resource to my pinterest😊 @GGallegos 6y
GGallegos @DianaHerrera I'm so glad you found the resource helpful! I always try to take time and find the best resources I can! 6y

This B is a great addition for students to learn from. This is a Caldecott winner and a theme of hope. It goes over who inspired Martin and the timeline of the big things he did. It is a wonderful book full of information for students to use and to read. It tells the story of hope and love that Martin had, showing his vision for this world. http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/martin-words-thin...

GGallegos This is a great RA book. UDL principle 5.1 would go well as you can use this book during a lesson of this time period. ESOL strategy 42 as there is a timeline they can reference and make to show Martin's life. #UCFLAE3414SuB18 6y

This TL, a story we have probably all heard at one point has one a Caldecott with this retold version. The story of a poor Miller who gives his daughter to the king because she can "make straw into gold". She can not do so, but a little unnamed man comes and helps her for a price. She then marries the king, has a son and trouble comes her way. How does it end? Read my friends!

GGallegos This is a great S book as we all now it well and can have fun props! http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/literature-circle... UDL 1.1 with the customization of choosing this book. ESOL strategy 6 during the LC time if using the resource. #UCFLAE3414SuB18 6y

This HF book shows the hardships of slavery in a way kids can relate to. The theme of this book is perseverance. Addy, a 9 year old lives during the Civil War. She has an older brother named Sam and baby sister named Esther. Her parents love them all very much and want their family to stay together. They are faced with whether to run or stay. This would be best used as IR while learning about slavery.

GGallegos http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/critical-perspect... URL 3.3 is important as we guide and show students part of our horrible past. ESOL strategy 17 would be very important. #UCFLAE3414SuB18 6y

This HF book is a Utah Beehive award winner, along with other awards. The theme of this book is perseverance. At the beginning we see Little Willy wake up and find Grandfather in bed. Grandfather normally wakes him up and is ready for the day with a smile. This day, he is in bed not responding, but staring at the ceiling. Little Willy is left to runntheir potato farm and to find out how to get Grandfather well again.

GGallegos I would have this as IR, and do activites in class https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/lesson-plans/teaching-content/stone-fox-less... the What If plan is a get one for this book. UDL principles 3.1 apply well because we would need to supply information. ESOL strategy 30 would work well as there is a lot of imagery to be drawn. #UCFLAE3414SuB18 6y

This F novel is my favorite. The theme of this book is friendship and acceptance. This is a story of an old wise tree telling her story, the good and the bad. She explains how trees and animals talk, but the one rule is to never talk to humans. She has observed people all her life, especially since they make wishes to her. This wishes come the 1st of May in a wave, but not all are told or tied to her branches then.

GGallegos But the one wish that she wants to her grant is to a little girl who wants a friend. Read. This. Book. This book would be best RA. A great resource is: http://wishtreebook.com/resources I want to do all 3 of the activities. UDL principles 3.2 is very applicable to this book with its content. ESOL strategies 16 world well with the resources and book. 6y

This RF is a New York Times Best Seller and is one of my favorite children's novels. The theme of this novel is acceptance and persistence. It is about a young courageous boy who is about to start private school after being homeschooled his entire life. He has never gone for a specific reason and has always had trouble making friends. We go on his adventure of persisting through struggles and making friends. This would be a great GR book.

This F book is the winner of a Caldecott award. The theme of this book is friendship and finding where you belong. This cute little imaginary friend was waiting for his turn for a child to imagine him and summon him home. He saw his friends leave and then one day decides to find his friend. He goes on an adventure and eventually finds his friend, how he does you'll have to read and see! This would best be used in a LC.

GGallegos This resource is great to get the students guessing what happens to Beekle: http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/using-prediction-... A UDL principles this book meets is 9.2 and ESOL strategy 30 as you can have students draw pictures of their imaginary friend. 6y

Two Bobbies, a B book is not an award winner but is a great story to tell students. It gives a true story about a cat and dog that had to be felt behind after the devastation of hurricane Katrina and how they survived. There is a plot twist, which you could figure out and give a minilesson on inference with your students about. The theme of this book is friendship and survival. I would use this book as a S, while we are learning about hurricanes.

GGallegos A great resource to use would be: http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/calendar-activities/tropical-s... The UDL principles 2.5 is shown and can be used with this book. EL strategies used with this book are 29 and 28 presenting info in a different way and teaching about a hardship in our history(through animals). #UCFLAE3414SUB18 6y

This fictional book by Jane Cabrera would be a great addition to an elementary classeoom, especially for the younger ones. The theme of the book is expressing happiness, in the way that makes the individual happy. The book shows different animals and different actions from clapping to flapping to show happiness. For younger students this would be a great book to work on their right words. This book would be best used as a RA.

GGallegos This book can be used with this lesson plan: http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/read-song-using-s... UDL principles, 4.1 strategy is applicable since the students have various methods they can respond to the book and navigate around it.
