Devoted observation of the Sawtooth Pack led the Dutchers to write this touching account of their fond memories of living with these wolves and what we can all learn from the pack‘s values

I visited a small independent bookstore, found the tagged book, a new tea called “Wuthering Heights“, and a new bookmark. Then I stopped at the cafe next door and got a lavender latte and an oatmeal creme pie (which I ate before taking the photo). #Readathon

tpixie I love lavender lattes! Fun #bookishhaul ! 2w

4/5⭐ A soulfully written memoir, heartwarming & heartbreaking. The details into caring for & gaining the trust of wolves were fascinating. The Dutchers realized their vision of getting readers to understand wolf social complexities, making the unhappy ending resulting from egotism & willful ignorance so appalling. Because of the ending, the rest of the book is important for developing a more respectful relationship with wolves & nature. #roll100

This is a unique viewpoint on Ojibwe culture. An older wolf "Uncle" spends time in the evenings with the pups of the pack storytelling. He passes on the history of the Ojibwe and their relationship with the wolves. I found much to contemplate in this short book. #20in4 readathon @Andrew65 #Booked2023 #TitleStartsWithVorW @alisiakae @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage

I give this book 4/5🩸 🩸 🩸 🩸

Dane, something of an outcast, ends up living in the wild with a wolf pack. A group of hunters decimate the wolf pack, unknowingly leaving one wolf alive. Dane and the wolf seek revenge, picking up Jenny on the way. I actually enjoyed this, hard to believe but it was better than the cover. Well written and some good gore. The book did show its age (tw racism) in spots. Dane‘s backstory was my favourite part!

Found the original and very faded receipt tucked in here! Purchased on Boxing Day in 1987 (I was 7 years old) here in Edmonton for the sticker price of $2.49.

Amazing.

Happy year end 2022! I‘ve been quietly lurking in the Litsy background mostly due to not reading so much and also work but I miss it. Reading this masterpiece that I got for Christmas and chapter 10 opens in my beautiful home province of Alberta!
