Star Trek Memories | William Shatner, Chris Kreski

For my #TBRtarot this month I finally read one of the many bios on my shelf! This was a good one filled with many stories about the making of the original series. Lots of what went on behind the scenes. Shatner even reflected on his relationships with co workers that weren‘t always positive. If you love the original show this is a must read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kirk/Shatner has never been my favorite but this book was still very fun to read. It‘s not just about Shatner‘s experiences or memories, on the contrary he steps aside and writes about a lot of the behind the scenes people. He gives credit where credit is due to everyone from the lighting crew to writers to fans to producers. Many parts are direct quotes from interviews with people involved with the making of Star Trek. ⬇️

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm His humor shows through and I laughed out loud several times. He even self reflects at the end about how he could be a major douche nozzle to some without realizing it. It‘s old, it‘s written before the film Star Trek: Generations, but for this Trek fan, it was still a good read. 🖖💙 7mo

🎧 A weenie bit self-serving BUT heartfelt.

Biography, memoir, fan service.

Shatner‘s narration was wonderful. They had a long history that began before Trek. There are many interesting stories from their 50 year friendship.

So many details including how mind melds, live long & prosper & the Vulcan nerve pinch came about. 😁

I wish there were a few more personal stories but all in all I enjoyed this book. Nimoy was a nice man.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Pageturner1 it‘s always nice to find out actors you actually like are really nice people. 3y

UwannaPublishme I must move this up on my TBR list. 3y
Twainy @UwannaPublishme Spock 🖤 this book lost a star for all of the focus Mr. Shatner put on himself but to be fair the book is his friendship with him so on some level I knew he‘d talk about himself. I really wish he had shared more personal stories but it was a good book. These are all from the $6 Audible sale! I always find good books in their sales even if I can‘t afford them! 3y
UwannaPublishme Thanks for the tip! Yes, our Capt. Kirk does like to talk about himself—a lot. 🤪 3y

I could imagine William Shattner speaking as I read this, so that was fun. Nobody will accuse Shattner of being a great writer, but this is still a lovely book written about his dear friend whom he loved dearly. It was a nice tribute and good to learn more about the behind the scenes life of Nimoy.

The premise is really interesting, that he's turning 80 and has some great life experiences and lessons to share. There's really only one lesson, though, which is a good one but often heard (say yes). I started to like hearing his perspective on things but then it seemed like he was just trying to fill pages. All in all, an OK way to pass a night when I couldn't sleep.
